No room at the inn

Saw that earlier. There could be a lot of reasons for the cancellation (I've had rooms cancelled on a couple of occasions) but it *might* be discrimination. Don't suppose they have a stable round the back? :p

hmmm a lot of reasons for the cancellation? nah, somebody in that hotel's management train said "we can't have riff-raff messing up our nice hotel" and cancelled the bookings. I think it may well back fire on them though, this is really bad advertising.
I'm not sure how the law works in this instance but they took payment, in retail terms that's a contract and they can be sued. How likely that is again I'm not sure as the rooms were paid for by donations and the Carl Simpson isn't a wealthy guy.

Other side of the coin, you are there with your family and it all gets a bit rowdy.
Fair amount of homeless people seem to like a drink or two, can see it from both angles.

From the report sounds like it got a bit lively last year.
If it was such a success why didn't they rebook at the Ibis?

I have much sympathy with the homeless, donate to Crisis at Christmas, but not sure about this being a blinding idea.

So the hotel are claiming there was damage at last year's hotel, but last year's hotel deny it.

Hmmm.

So what do you think we were being misled about?

I wasn't there - so have no knowledge

Well, I'm sure the replacement hotel couldn't get positive publicity like it will now have for anywhere near the cost of those rooms.

We now have a very late, but winning entry, for cynic of the year! Why, instead of praising the replacement hotel for their generous action which, believe it or not, probably did make their offer in a spirit of charity, did you not make disparaging comments about the hotel that cancelled their booking instead of attempting to justify their actions?

Why is this cynical? Surely this was a rare opportunity for another hotel to come along and offer alternative rooms while becoming known nationally for their actions. I'm not suggesting that this is not also a very creditable action, but it's certainly very good business sense.
