Yes
For the first time I can rememeber Ive not had a polling card come through. So the Q, can I go and vote without one?

Cheers

Yes.

Provided you're registered to vote.

just turn up at the polling station and give them your name and address. You don't need ID to do it

Im on the electoral register I presume. I'll pop round and see what they say.

I never bring my card on principle, you don't need it and I dislike the way every other bleedin' thing requires photo ID, bank statements, utility bill, signed affiadavit from upstanding pillar of the community etc etc (see : buying a number plate from a motor factor).

And breathe

Strange - first time that I can remember that I was not sent a polling card either. Interesting thing is my wife was sent one - wondering what the message is there?

Anyway, we've both voted as you don't need the card.

I personally wouldn't bother, I have a voting card and have thrown mine in the wood-burner today.

:)

Then why bother registering your right to vote?
If you were sincere about not voting, when you received the thing about "register or be damned", you'd tell them to stick it up their arse and accept the consequences.

I think the snappyness of the snap election has caught some authorities out.

I'm not too keen on how they log your unique reference against your polling card reference. I'm sure this has been discussed before in that it's to prevent fraud and they destroy the data afterwards #cough#, and also that's it's pencil and not a permanent marker or something.

‘He then grabbed a voting paper and took it into a booth, before the police turned up and took him away.’
‘His ballot paper had fallen to the floor and I had a quick look. He’d missed the box anyway and just drawn a penis.’

In another election development, a whole team of ballot counters in Basildon has been dismissed after the local returning officer discovered that none of them could count past ten.

Not sure if I should  @ that, or
