I was asked to fill the daughter's hot water bottee last night so boiled the kettle and began to fill it up. The neck back filled and I ended up with boiling water pouring over my right hand! I dropped the hot water bottle with a yelp! The missus runs in to enquire what the noise was...and walks barefoot into a pool of boiling water.

So I'm sat here with a large dressing on the hand and cannot hold a camera. I am going to a major fireworks show tonight too :(

Missus is ok though..just lots of cursing!
 
sorry to hear that.. sounds nasty.

this is actually a serious suggestion, but learn to shoot left handed. I busted by right hand once and learned to do everything left handed. With some practice its not as hard as you think.
 
suggestion for tonights picture,
use a remote?
set the camera up with your left hand, and just click the remote...? (Obviously on a tripod)

Winner :)

Would you not be able to tripod up and use your left hand?

The strapping is off, The hand is nice and red but the gunge my brother (who is a paramedic) gave us last year when the missus burnt herself has prevented any serious blisters.:clap:

What's worse is I went to cracking firework show last night at Transmere Rovers and had a front seat view :bang:...Oh well maybe next year!

Shooting left handed? I guess you turn the camera upside down and fire the shutter with your little finger on the left hand?:shrug:

Oh and yes, when the daughter went to bed, she wanted to know why I hadn't finished the hot water bottle. Even after having seen me and the missus dancing round the kitchen getting burnt!!

You could have shot left handed if it was tripod mounted :nuts:

Having burnt myself with a hotwater bottle last year, using it not filling it I have discovered one, do not use boiling water as I used to , I now just run the hotwater tap and use the hot water from the tap. I also had a hotwater bottle burst on me, I hate to think what would have happened if that had been my daughter, It just does not bear thinking about.

Please people do not use boiling water in a hot water bottle, the consequences are not good.

Pleased to hear you are going to be OK.

Hear hear. I have two of these and they are an absolute godsend.

Hope the hand gets better very soon Brocks.

It's amazing what you can do with the 'wrong hand' though. I couldn't use my proper one on and off for about eight months when I had a cyst in my wrist joint. Took the whole of the summer holidays to learn to write with the other hand. Nearly 20 years later, I can still do it! Great Party Trick
