They do hold up cars. Every biker will pull up to the front of the queue in front of the cars, when I have been at the head of the queue and this happens, I have to wait for the bike to move before I can, either that or I knock the biker off their bike. I only use my handbrake when parked, rest of the time I'm good to go.
my zzr1200 is 140 g/km which would put me in the £130 tax range - so I'm happy where it is at £80 TaBecause the more fuel you use the more co2 you emit.
Of Jealously?
Oh please....do explain.
She just likes arguing Mike. She's female.Since I posted about tax on bikes you have been moaning about them whether that be things bikers want or have. I don't understand why though. I wasn't complaining that some cars pay no tax, it was about that bikes do yet some cars don't and then I gave my reasons. You don't agree with it, fine. But why bring up about tolls helmets etc. So I started sticking up for something I have done since 16. You clearly have a problem with bikers for some reason and as you mention the list jealousy springs to mind. Like I said try it, you might like it , but until then dont knock it or us![]()

This system will still rely on car number plates being recorded and checked to see if they are in the computer and shown to be taxed. I wonder how this is going to be done, more number plate recognition camera, more work for the police?
Dave
from what i understand it doesnt rely on getting caught.
from what ive read if its not SORN'd then you have to be in the computer as taxed otherwise its a fine.
Thanks for the linkyhttps://www.gov.uk/government/news/vehicle-tax-changes
From 1 October 2014 (5 October if setting up at a Post Office®), Direct Debit will be offered as an additional way to pay for vehicle tax. This will be available for customers who need to tax their vehicle from 1 November 2014
The rest of the UK don't need insurance then? coolFrom 1 October 2014 (5 October if setting up at a Post Office®), Direct Debit will be offered as an additional way to pay for vehicle tax. This will be available for customers who need to tax their vehicle from 1 November 2014:
annually
6 monthly
monthly (12 months tax paid for on a monthly basis)
Provided an MOT remains valid, the payments will continue automatically until you tell DVLA to stop taking them or you cancel the Direct Debit with your bank. Valid insurance should also be in place for vehicles registered in Northern Ireland.

It was printed on a government Dept web site, so it must be true10 out of 10 for trying! You'll never get away with it though![]()

You did ask :banghead:![]()

You no longer need insurance to purchase road tax. You still need insurance to use (including park) the vehicle on the public road. The rest of the UK don't need insurance then? cool![]()

Seriously? wow !I stopped believing what any government told me years ago![]()

How is this any different to how it currently is? With a paper disc you can only get refunds on whole months. Even if the seller gives you the tax disc they are presumably buying tax for the new vehicle so therefore doubling up too.Think of all the money government will make as well. You buy a car that's taxed until the end of December at the beginning of October. The seller gets November and December refunded and the seller has to start from the 1 St of October so October has been paid twice. Robbing bar stewards(n)

Much as it pains me to say it, would be so much easier if they just put 3p (or whatever) on a litre and did away with it altogether. No evading posible then, no awkward administration. And the tax is proportional to the fuel you use, a bit like the current banded based on CO emissions tax system.
No mots for bikes?? That's bad. I used to work in a bike shop and have seen some death traps picked up in the mot. Mot's should be for everything every year for everyone's safety i think. As it is here now.
I was talking to the guy that MOT'd my car recently, and he was saying the same thing is a real possibility here in the near future. If it has no been mentioned that's the system in France, .....
An MOT every 2 years, starting at year 4 ... .
What do you drive?But true.![]()
Very true, there are even disclaimers on the wall of the MOT station that I go to.To be honest an MOT here is pretty useless after issue. The DVSA can pull you into one of their layby impromptu checks, and if, upon inspection, they deem your vehicle unfit, that's your lot. ..MOT or not.
As I wrote before, no one mentioned a traffic light grand prix. I drive a Focus ST, but that doesn't matter, what matters is me sitting at the front waiting at traffic lights. Biker/scooterist, whatever, overtakes the queue and not wanting to cross the stop line, now stops, squeezing in next to my front wing. Because of their proximity I can't pull away until they have decided to move away, hence they are holding me up. it's not that hard to grasp. What do you drive?
Ok so my zzr does 0-60 in 2.5 secs, the 600's in about 4 so unless you're talking scooters, the worse case bike will be doing 0-60 in 6 secs, which is pretty fast for a car in a traffic light Grand Prix. I don't call that holding up a car, especially as no driver/rider ever really gives it beans and on average acceleration the bike goes away quicker everytime. No holdup for the driver.
Unless you know different, drive something exotic and have a very heavy foot/poor mpg.
