Last week have decided that it is about time to get myself a bicycle and start commuting to work:)

So as I went to work today I had enough money on mine oyster card for one way trip to work.

So skipped half a day at work and went to Evans.
Bought myself a new shiny ride along with other bits and pieces :)

here it is :) (just a stock image for now )

took me around 20-25mins to get from work to my flat so not bad for a overweighted smoker :)

bit tired now but not as bad I was thinking it will be :)

I'd thought about that many a time when I worked locally....but the thought of working up a sweat on my way to work in the mornings in the summer and with a suit on put me right off!!

Bike looks nice :D

Just as well, as you'd arrive at work looking like you'd crapped yourself! :gag:

That sucks. I asked my director if he would be willing to operate this scheme (was expecting an uphill struggle) almost fell off the chair when he said yes almost instantly.

It's great cycling in the summer but the first winter can be a real struggle. Especially when you wake up in the morning it's dark, cold and wet. But 18 months of cycling to work you get used to it. Only 1 more payment left and the Trek 8000 is all mine :)

And where are you going to put all your camera gear?!! Well you should carry a camera in case you miss a good shot!

In the winter I won't cycle to work with the camera. Once the weather starts to improve and the light is better I'll be using a Aerospeed 85 with enough space for my work clothing. Some good wildlife in MK if you know where to look and a bike is perfect for exploring :)

i missed so many shots that few more wont make a difference lol

and I was never taking camera to work ( not safe enough to keep it there)

Really nice bike! Congratulations.
Dont envy you cycling in London though, stay safe and keep your wits about you!

@ Seashaker - I thought to take part in the cycle to work scheme, you actually had to 'cycle to work'?
My work is considering it but its 30 miles away and not practical, so I've written that idea off. Glad to be proven wrong though!

Nice looking bike, I have a couple of Specialized bikes both of which serve me well. Will be doing the 26 mile round trips to work again now the winter nights are coming to an end. If you're riding every day I'd consider some Specialized Armadillo tyres, I have them on both bikes and am yet to have a puncture.

PS Mudguards....pah where's the fun in that!:naughty:

Not to sure if I'd trust some of those.

If you have an iPhone it’s worth having a look at http://www.screenmedia.mobi/apps I’ve just started cycling the 5 miles to work again and this little app is a beauty it tracks your distance, speed and time etc via gps tells you calories burned and plays your music along the way you can even look at a map of where you’ve been

Very nice bike Lukas, well done :)
Advice from ex, maybe no quite, cyclist :)
1. Get a good pump and keep right pressure at all time.
2. Invest in good locks, it's east London, you know :)
3. Goggles comes very handy when you doing 20-25 mph :)
4. Be visible for drivers, I mean Hi-Vis and lights, I'm a driver myself and many times I've spotted cyclist almost to late only because he didn't have any lights.
5. And mind the idiots in white vans ;D, sorry guys, I've had bad experience few times.

I have 3Gs, how is the ap for battery? and do you have to take the sleep mode off, mine shuts down after 60 seconds (assuming you do).

I have the 3G model and it's heavy on the battery uses about 15% of mine for a 30min ride but I carry a spare battery that I can charge from latter on in the day, also it carrys on when the phone goes to sleep still playing the music and talking to you at 5min intervals to update you on your progress.

nice bike - call me old fashioned but why dont they put mudguards on these days, even small ones would stops your back getting covered in mud.
