Have Canon stopped making this camera. I see that WEX do not show it in their line up any more.

I was told by Harrisons of Sheffield that the 1dmk4 would be phased out once the 1DX was out, Harrisons had one in stock the other week at £3490 but its now been sold . There is a few new ones if you have a look around tho but E bay prices are stupid ones just gone for £2800 :cuckoo:

oh well have to save more pennies now. Wouldnt be so bad if stocks of IdX's were plentiful. compared with the £5500, £2800 doesnt seem unreasonable depending on condition and shutter count. finding an extra 2 grand for a 1dx over a MkIV is a lot. Hopefully the price will come down once the initial rush for them is over. I'll be waiting.

Wow, I thought the 1.3x crop series would carry on and the 1D X was to bridge the gap between the 1D and 1Ds line. Considering the fact that the 1D X is priced where the 1Ds line-up was anyway...

Its still on there UK website and its not saying its discontinued, I found that on the US website its gone... weird if they drop it as what will all the highend sport and wildlife guys to without a crop factor.

Update: It looks like allot of talk about this on other sites... it would be a bummer as the price jump is massive from a 5DM3 to a 1DX...

Lovely camera though the 5DMk3 is and it would seem a very tempting alternative to a MkIV possibly, i like the 1D body size without having to add a grip. I realise that the big bodies dont suit everyone and the option of leaving the grip off add to the Mk3's versatility. Also the crop factor is good for my preferred interest in sport and wildlife. Seems an odd decision to stop producing the MkIV unless the 1Dx price falls significantly.

to me ther is no alternativeto the mk1V I just love the crop factor and that suits my lenses for what I shoot.

It's listed as discontinued on thedigitalpicture.com's website...

It'll be interesting to see if the rumoured 70D will fill the gap well enough!

That's a VERY short life cycle for a 1D body, possibly the shortest ever. You'd thnk they would continue making it for a little longer.

Think it's about the same time as the mk3 but longer than the mk2N

Yes it's came out in 2009, so 3 years ago, about the life span of a 1D.

So time to start the 1DX Mark II rumours now ready for 2015 :)
