No Insurance!!!

I got married in Nov '06 (in Loughborough actually, not a million miles from notts) and paid £300 for the tog, album and 1 large framed print. They were poo, but they didn't cut anything off and as far as direction went I thought they were just right. The photos themselves were OK in terms of documenting the event, but there was nothing special about them at all, they didn't even go as far as healing out the maccyD's wrappers on the floor. That said they must have thought they were some of their best work as they used most of them at a wedding fair the month after (although they were the only pictures they had of a military wedding).

christ. my mrs spends MONTHS agonising over which shots to use for a wedding fair.
and if theres so much as a sweety wrapper in shot , i'm ordered to go and remove it.
thats assuming i've not already spotted it myself.
i know of more than one pro tog who's promo stuff is of staged weddings, not real ones.
i also know of a "pro" tog who came out with us once or twice "for the experience" and
" wasnt looking to take wedding work up proffesionaly" who now does weddings STARTING at £1000.
sadly , there are people out there who will take advantage.

The tog and his wife in question have now jacked it in anyway. We went to visit them just after the wedding expecting to see lovely PS'd shots on a computer screen, but they were printed...the reason they were'nt on screen? Here it is:

"Oh no, the only thing we use the computer for is keeping track of our accounts and writing letters"

Our wedding shots had been developped at Tesco's photolab apparently (a rumour we heard from another couple who used them)

And I'm worried about people being PO'd with anything I do on TFCD

you do the job properly, you make money and stay open.
you do the job badly, you should go breasts upwards.

tesco photolab:eek::bang:

Damn right, too bad this doesn't always happen. And I'm with cowboy, I wouldn't touch weddings with a 10 foot pole (Stretch Pulaski...tallest european you'll ever meet :naughty:). Its all very well having the indemnity insurance...but I couldn't live with myself knowing that the 'happy couple' ain't so happy with their pictures.

stretch pulaski , nice bloke. nasty bruises on his face.

I was jut ripping off an old joke from M*A*S*H*! :D

Other reason I wouldn't do weddings is because I simply don't want to :) I'd rather do portraiture...if I ever find anyone that's interested! So far I have one person who's halfway interested...and it means a 3 hour drive :bang:
