No dSLR allowed on Wembley Stadium

I got away with it when I saw Muse at Wembley Stadium, even then I was told not to use it as Security would confiscate it. I dunno how they would considering I was right in the middle in the standing area so they couldn't see me :D I guess it's different for you.

Oooh I saw Muse too :D Didn't take a camera with me (regrettably) but saw loads of people with dSLRs...one guy even climbed on his mates shoulders with a 70-300!! Quickly got chucked out mind you....but that was for the climbing as he was right in front of security and taking loads of photos before this.

Make it a fiver and you got a deal :P

Also i agree on the thing about missing ome of the action when you are taking pictures!

And they will stop me, i shall be wearing 4 Schumi hats, and "Schumi" written on my head :P

They confiscated my air horn last year, i knew i wasn't allowed but tried anyway haha!

I shall have my Ferrari flag which went with me to Monza 06  I'd love him to sign it if I possibly can get anywhere near.

I wish airhorns were allowed, I have laryngitis so I won't be able to cheer. *takes drums*

I wouldn't of thought you would get near for him to sign it, last year they went no where near the crowd

I know it is so frustrating! Last year i took one (a little one) and it got confiscated :razz:I wihs i oculd thise year, i have a Commander 4, the worlds loudest handheld air horn, but can't take it! Was useful at rally gb though :naughty:

In a way I'm glad they do. Would be a bit much in a stadium I reckon. I like my hearing!

I'm kinda thinking of hanging around after :naughty: Just call me a groupie

 Yeah it can be a lot on the ears!

And haha! The walk down to the tube station is a nightmare!

I know someone that took a Nikon D70 and a sigma 70-200mm lens into the Manchester United ground, he took a few pictures then security spotted him and escorted him out,no arguing with them, he'd contravened the rules on the ticket so they hoofed him out

Found out on Saturday that my sister is going to this race thing at Wembley. One of the major reasons she's going is to take photos and get some practice in with her Canon 450D. I mentioned that she may not be allowed to take her Canon 450D inside and when I explained the reasons why she also agreed that they were dumb. Like me, she can't understand the stupidity of it all!

I can't afford it yet, but I plan on getting a Bridge camera in about 18 months time, just for situations like this. Hopefully by then Canon will have released a superzoom Bridge camera that takes RAW+JPG images.

fuji already did - s9600 amongst others......

can you fake being accredited? ;)

At wembley photographers have to take there passport or driving licence as proof of id ... well they did at football last season ... then it was like fort knox.. security walking you from a to b and all manner of checks inbetween....

Got a phone call from my sister a little while ago. She didn't take her 450D along because she was worried that she wouldn't be allowed to take it in. It turns out that loads of people are using DSLRs at the event. Not surprisingly my sister was more then a little annoyed by it. The whole 'NO DSLRs' thing is just pure stupidity! :bang:

That is why I took mine, I read several things in other threads about it and I figured I'd rather take it. My Dad came up with us in case they said no. Turns out they let them all in then they said they would scan the cctv for any long lenses and deal with it then. I had a 70-200 lens on and had no troubles at all.

Oh, and we had FANTASTIC seats.

I was annoyed as well but just at the beginning.I know that if I would have taken my camera I would spend the whole time with my nose stuck in to it and would have no time to relax and watch the whole show...

It was very empty, only 46thousdand i believe.
I took my 450d with a 70-300, and had no trouble at all, within 10 rows of me there were probably another 10DSLR's so i dont think they were that bothered!
However if it had been football it may have been a different case!

i have to admit cheering for Carl Edwards when he was racing Schu
I loved Shumachers excuse, saying that he isnt used to driving Fiat 500s. Does he think Edwards drives Fiats in the Daytona 500? LOL

i'm sure you will all be really upset to hear that media access was rediculous this year.
last year we were restricted to row 14 which we had all to ourselves. This year they decided that we just had to sit in any empty seat we could find. So, for once we had no advantage over the paying public.. OK, so i know you guys arent going to feel too sorry for me :)
In the end I didnt even bother shooting the race of champions, i just sat and watched and cheered for Loeb (who i had £10 on at 8-1) whilst everyone else cheering for boring Coulthard.

I'll put the pics up on the Mortosport section later.

Actually it's spelt Schumacher.

And Michael never drives as well in closed wheelers, he's far better in open wheelers. That's what he meant.

It looked quite empty on the TV

It was. And then the vast majority of the crowd were extremely rude and left 10 seconds after the final race. So the commentators were trying to whip up some cheers for the guys on the podium and there was hardly anything as there were only about 2,000 people left in the stadium. :nono:

Schumacher has a Fiat 500. Admittedly its a proper 500 and none of this modern nonsense!

I saw plenty of green bibbed photographers inside the track at several points and some grey bibbed ones right next to the track.

that was only during the two podium ceremonies. And they only let a limited number in and you had to queue. If you queued then you wouldnt be able to take photos of the race.. pretty stupid really.

I went to Wembley myself last year for the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final and managed to get in with a Crumpler shoulder bag containing a DSLR and 70-300mm lens,

Were you me - because I did the same?

Got some great shots too!

And then I changed lens and got some of the crowd.

I see. I more I read about Wembley the weirder it all gets. :cuckoo: Anyone would think they don't want publicity. Oh hang on, they've been getting that haven't they, mostly bad.

yeah they are all done by LAT ( www.latphoto.co.uk)
those were the guys in the white vests

whilst i can understand not letting all the photographers too near the track because not everyone was a motosport photographer (a lot were from london local papers). But they could have at least had some area where you could get closer than 2 miles away.
Although I guess they dont want anyone getting better shots than the agency they employed.

Yeah I saw the green bibs only getting close for certain parts and felt a bit bad for you. Not all that bad though, I was miles up in the grandstand!

me too (for quite a bit of it)
i sat in the closed off bit on my own for a while.. kept myself amused by joining in the mexican wave by myself :)

i'd assumed the organisers photorgrapher in the press conference was LAT, but it was actually IMP Photo.. anyone heard of them?

although when you look at the EXIF they say LAT (with quite a few well known names)
Malcolm Griffiths/LAT Photographic
Andrew Ferraro/LAT Photographic
Colin McMaster/LAT Photographic
