Well I had to send my camera to get the sensor cleaned because I couldn't do it.

The camera will be sent off on friday and I won't have it for about 2 weeks.

What the hell am I going to do til then!! I feel lost without it already !!!!!!

why send it away ,i,m nearly 70 and do my own with ease ,its a 5 minute job and at least you know its actually been done .after paying £50 for a clean some years ago and finding it worse than when it went away i opted to do my own as stated tis easy

Agree with this.

I had to ask but why on earth are you sending it away for that long for a sensor clean. Learn to do it yourself

I've tried doing it myself. Might as well send it away and have it professionally cleaned.

Most independents will do it within the hour if you ring up first & take it in. Are there none near(ish) you?

Hope you get it back soon. Its just like squeegeeing a window, just on a tiny scale. Really easy and not scary- The sensor is covered by a thin layer of glass so you won't mess anything up unless you're very clumsy with dirty swabs. Maybe give it a go the next time!

I agree with the notion of doing it yourself as well as getting a compact but then I am prone to a bit of GAS now and then!!

I used to take it to Park Cameras, Burgess Hill who could do it while you waited. You just had to check that the person, who did the sensor cleans, would be in that day.

Got fed up with the journey so did a seach on Google and found a person who does camera repairs/sensor cleans. He's only a 20 minute car ride from me. I'm well impressed with the service I've received. He even cleaned the camera so it looked like new. He's even got from Nikon a rubber focusing ring for me and fitted it for me.

No way would I send a camera away I'd be too worried it getting damaged in transit.

buy a back up body you'll need one for your property photography business anyway ... and if you really can't clean it yourself several places do a while you wait service - fixation are one such but there are others
