hi everyone, looking into getting a flashgun at some point, I currently use a canon eos 350d, and I keep looking with interest at the nissin di series.
Have any of you used any of these? What can I expect from one? And are they suited to newer bodies such as 500d 50d etc.

I've got the Di622. It is a good flash for on camera use, but useless if you want to use it off camera. It has TTL so makes it very easy to use, but also has power controls too so you can adjust as needed. They are quite good for the money, but if you plan on using it off camera, they are very difficult to use. HTH:thumbs:

hi, i am using the Nissin Di622 on a 350d. I havent got much experience but i think the flash is good for my needs (amateur photography, weddings etc). I haven't got round to getting it to remote trigger, but it does definitely fire as slave when I use the camera's popup flash. It feels quite sturdy and can be twisted and turned to point in any direction.

One downside is that it slips into standby very quickly, but I wouldnt say it is a big issue. I bought it from 7dayshop.com. They were the cheapest I could find online and offline.

Hope that helps!

thats great, thanks for the reply, got to save my money for one,

got my recently - a Di622. My first proper flash so have nothing to compare it with - it seems and feels pretty well built and does what it says on the tin.

Triggering it using camera's pop-up flash works very well, not missfires in over 150 shots the other day. Apparently they don't work with wireless triggers though, something to do with they way they are wired.

There is a mod you can do - search youtube for di622 for the mod instructions.

Got mine from ebay (hkdirect) for £76 or so inc p&p. May buy another one soon to mod

Thanks Gary, i think that will be the flash i get when i fet all my money saved up. Does anyone know if it works with high speed sync on cameras that offer it?
