I have a Canon 450D and my wife wants to get me a flash for Christmas, which I can use off camera with a cord. I didn't want to push her in the direction of Canon, mainly due to the cost, the di622 can be bought for about ?100. Do any of you guys use one of these and can they be recommended, or can anyone suggest an alternative?

Cheers.

Alan.

I'm also looking at the Nissin Di622, for macro stuff primarily (either using a snoot or off-camera on a bracket). No idea about whether to go for the MkI or MkII.
Both are available at OneStopDigital for £90~ and £115~ respectively.

Also on the table is the Sigma EF 530 DG ST from WarehouseExpress for £120.

Any help much appreciated!

I have two. They do the job just fine, no complaints here. I used on a 450D and 50D. Easy to use, easy to set up, well built.
I might have them both and a cord for sale soon, but I want to see if they work alright as slaves with a D700 first.

The Nissin has some good reviews but are you aware the Canon 430 exII is available for only £175 at the moment & maybe less from Kerso?

Thanks everyone for your replies. Yes Steve, I have seen the 430 ex11 for ?175, but I was thinking the extra ?75 could go towards a macro lens I intend to purchase in the near future.
