Hi all,

My 1st post here, so thanks in advance for any help.

My query is with regards to the Nissin di622 mk 2 flash..have been playing about with it off camera (40d) and have had good results getting it to fire using the pop up flash. My problem is, when I connect the flash to the camera via the pc sync port, I can only get it to fire when the flash is in manual mode.. Am I doing something wrong? Because I thought using a cord in this way would allow me to use the e-ttl system.

Thanks again

Martin

To use the flash in E-TTL mode off camera you need an OS E3 cord or equivalent that connects via the hotshoe. The PC socket only supports manual flash.

Thanks mike, appreciate ** time.

I'm new to photography in general, but a total noob when it comes too off camera flash! Tis all very confusing!

Edit: Ignore me! See post #5!

As Mike says, plus, are you sure about firing the Nissin off the pop-up? It shouldn't work... I'm guesing what you're seeing is the Nissin firing off the pop-up's pre-flash but the only light you're getting in the actual exposure is from the pop-up.

If you're new to this stuff, the above probably won't make much sense but I think you'll find you're not getting anything from the Nissin. Check it - if the Nissin is firing and so is the pop-up, then you will see two shadows cast. If there's only one shadow, then there's only one flash firing in sync.

And welcome to TP :)

It's the mark I that won't fire off the pop up flash. The mark II has three slave modes, E-TTL, Digital and manual. If it's set to Digital slave it will ignore the pre flash and fire on the main flash.

You're right Mike. Apologies!
