Another which lens thread, but looking for a good wide angle lens mostly for car shots and some lowlight shots? Also i have no budget (cost not an issue), Opinions needed people!!?
Many thanks, Sham

That is a difficult one but I will suggest to go for the 14-24. I have the 14-24 and it's amazing, very sharp wide open through the zoom range. It's not f1.4 but I m sure for car shots you ll be able to get very nice views at 14mm. The only issue with it is that it might be a bit on the heavy side for some.

Love my 14-24. If you're shooting cars you probably want to use a CPL filter which you can't with the 14-24.

I take it you're combining it with an FX body and that you want 24mm predominately?

The 14-24 is a masterpiece but as mentioned, the lack of filter attachment might not suit you. Have only read about the 24mm f/1.4, but everything points to it being a very special optic, albeit at a massive price.

If you're looking at 24mm then you'd be as well going for the 24-70mm, unless you want wider - maybe the 16-35mm f/4 might suit you, although some folk seem to think it distorts too much.

The format (FX/DX) is important to know really....

Sorry I did forget to mention that I'm using shooting in DX! Thanks for the imput guys, keep the opinions coming as I'm keen to see people's experiences using both these lenses... Thanks

The 24 f/1.4 is a very special lens, but tbh if you're shooting dx and not planning to change there are far cheaper choices which are as good on dx

24mm isn't that wide on DX so I'd rule that out, leaving the 14-24 if that is the only choice to be made - personally I'd skip that for DX and go for a DX wide angle zoom, which will be wider and can take filters.

Ah, that's better.

14-24 is still an awesome buy but there are lots of other DX options, namely the 12-24mm f/4 Nikon. Not as good but still a quality optic...

Is there now way what so ever to use filters on a 14-24??

Edit: Apologies for taking it off track

LEE does some kind of adaptor and so you can use square ones, but screw-in filters like CPLs can't be used....

Ahhh thats not too bad then. Means I can still do my dream set up one day! :D

except it aint cheap!

for dx the best uwa is probably the tokina 11-16 f/2.8. the sigma 10-20 is also very good for the money.

I know, I've seen. :(

I have a Nikon 10-24 at the minute. But hope to make the jump to FF some day in the near future.
