Hi all!
I'm a newbie as you probably have gathered.
Just a quick question to start. I am looking to start up my photography hobby but my main interest is sport, mainly horses, motor cross, football, etc what would be the best camera? I do prefer nikon, I had a D80 but had to sell it a couple of years ago, but I want something which I don't need to upgrade for a while. If we could just start with body first that would be good. Budget for body give or take £700

Thanks

d300 is a great camera for round about that mark

:agree: although it would need to be secondhand (price range £500-650), a D300s is probably still going to be £800+. Alternatively the D80's replacement, the D90 would be available both new and used well within budget and would leave money for a lens or two....

Wow. Thanks for quick response! I was looking at D300, suppose I just wanted someone elses input. But purely because I do not want to have to upgrade for a while, so I'm hoping this will keep me going for a while. In all of your opinions, would a D90 be good enough for sport photography. For shooting rally cars etc or horse racing for example
Thanks

Sorry me again. With the D90, if I invested in better lenses would that outway the need for the expense of a D 300. Sorry if that sounds a dumb question, but I hope you know where I'm coming from.

A secondhand D90 would only sell for about £300 less than a secondhand D300, but the D300 51 point fast AF system (from the D3) would be much more desirable for sports.
