When adapting lenses to the Nikon Z7, does the in body stabilisation still work or do you need native lenses?

Thanks

Yes it still works

Welcome to the Z, and to the forum. Yes, the Z stabilisation works fine with manual (not electronically linked) lenses. Just remember to set the focal length appropriate to allow the body to decide just how much stabilisation to apply.
You’ll find a whole host of information in the forum thread Trevor refers to. :)

Yes and no. If the lens has VR it uses the lens VR instead, and annoyingly the VR is constantly active. Hopefully Nikon will sort this in a firmware update.

So would a native VR lens for the Z mount allow for in body stabilisation and lens stabilisation to be activated at the same time ? Or Is it just the adapted lenses where it’s either the lens stabilisation or just the in body stabilisation?

I think you’ll find that Nikon’s native lenses are not image stabilised. I’d expect third party Z mount lenses to be the same. It helps keep the size and weight of the lens down. The inbuilt stabilisation of the body is perfectly adequate.

As above, no z lenses (yet) have VR, they all rely on IBIS. Adapted lenses with Nikon VR will use the lens VR and not IBIS, adapted Nikon lenses without VR will use IBIS.
