Nikon Z* mirrorless

I’ve got one. Just feels like a Zf with a good grip and more programmable buttons.
It appears to be exactly the same size as a Z7. Even the bottom plate fits both.
The articulating screen I do not like. I suppose I’m spoiled by the Z8.
The auto VF / rear screen is very sensitive and I’m getting rear screen blackout when it should be lit.
It does correct itself eventually. I don’t have this problem with the Zf.

Thanks. Very helpful. I loved the size of my original Z6. This sounds like a good fit for me.

The only difference size wise is that the Z5 ii has a slightly deeper grip.
Weights are near identical.

Cracking images Mav. What were they taken with if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks first was with 500pf second was with 500fl and z8
The detail with the FL is outstanding. I think they are a very underated lens because they fall between the 400mm f/2.8 and the 600mm f/4. Used with the Z8 it's a reasonably lightweight combo don't you think and it's why I chose it over the Z 180-600.

Yes its a Great Lens stunning detail , takes a converter really well . and not to heavy really, mine came without the Lens good , so I've 3d printed one which is 200 grams lighter than the original I see you go to Oulton park whereabouts are you based I Live in Liverpool

Morning,

What dual battery charger are you using for both the en-el15 and en-el15c batteries?

Thank you

I’ve got the Smallrig and the official Nikon grip. Much prefer the Smallrig I have fairly large hands.

Nah the official Nikon is the best. I just happen to have one for sale in the Nikon section right now! (I’ve sold my ZF).

In reality everyone’s hands are different so it’s difficult to say.

I have the Smallrig, but I don’t much like the feel of it that much. The Neweer grip with the little thumb rest on the back seems popular among the ZF masses.

Yes. I think @Stephen L had one.

I have the Smallrig grip and I am happy with it. I wonder if a nylon (or ABS) version rather than metal would be good as it reduces the total weight of the rig.

If anyone wants to buy my Nikon grip I can throw in a Smallrig for an extra tenner.

Thanks for sharing - certainly some interesting/welcome improvements. Good to see an update for the Z8

This one interest's me the most ! - it will stop the focussing on distant objects when taking photos of smaller birds etc that are closer to you, especially if it can be programmed to a button and toggle on and off.

3. New functions that support accurate focusing

Firmware version 3.00 also equips the Z 8 with an in-camera focus limiter that restricts the camera focus to the selected range. Specifying the minimum and maximum focus distances achieves more accurate focus on the intended subject and further helps avoid missed photo opportunities. This feature is especially useful for preventing the camera from focusing on foreground objects, or on the background, when photographing subjects like flowers, birds, or airplanes.

No mention on Nikon UK as to when the new firmware will be available.

I don't think I have posted any photos taken with the ZF I purchased a few months ago, which I bought to replace the ZFC which was a tad too small for my shovels. It compliments my Z8 better with them both being FF.

Went to Cornwall in May when we had nice weather, unfortunately the wife had a a cold and chest infection before we left and was on antibiotics and the she then had the pleasure of passing it onto me. So only managed two half days out in the week we were there.

I took this one by mistake whilst on my mobility scooter but I like the way it came out.

On the weekend we had the pleasure of a male Sparrowhawk visit our garden I have never managed to capture a Sparrowhawk with prey, so a first for me.

I have lost some feather detail due to there being light misty rain and taken through the kitchen window, which had condensation due cooking.

Luckily I had my 400mm lens on my ZF so manged a few shots before it flew off.

My Nikon ZF turned up today, the firmware is ver 1.2. Having just checked, the latest firmware is 2.01 on the Nikon website. So question is, can I just upload the latest version or do I have to do it in steps, version to version?

You should be able to update to the latest version using the SnapBridge app.

Firmware successfully updated to version 2.01.

Can someone point me in the right direction.. can you let me know the make/model of the adapter I need to be able to use my Sony class on my Nikon ZF. Thanks.
