Nikon Z* mirrorless

Currently using an XQD & SD card in my Z7ii.

Are the same cards compatible with the Z8?

Should be - I'm using the same Sony XQD and SanDisk SD cards I used previously with my D850 in my Z8 with no issues

Yes they are. Whilst I don't tend to use my old 120GB Sony XQD card anymore (I now have CFExpress cards), I have used them on both my Z9 & Z8 and they certainly still work just fine, they just don't have the speed of CFExpress B cards, so the very highest video bitrate settings and the buffer depth on shooting photos will be less than CFExpress. .

Hi, trying to setup a monitor on top of the Z8, what I cannot see is how to turn off the camera LCD when the monitor is attached and switched on if this is possible? any advice please, I do have the camera LCD/Viewfinder set to use one or the other, Thank you, Russ.

Yes.
I have tested XQD from my Z7 and also XQD (Sony) and SD (Sandisk Extreme) from D850 in my Z8 and all work.

I am interested to find a solution but it needs to provide a LiveView vision, not just a larger view of the whole captured image after the shot has been taken. The latter you can do if you with an iPad Pro with a USB-C cable.
I think a solution might be through the HDMI port with a Atmos unit, I am pretty sure it works for video but dont think it does for stills.

Hi, Thank you. I am using a Feelworld monitor connected via HDMI but your 2nd reason "Don't think it works for stills" seems about right. Thanks again. Russ.

First outing with the 28-400 today, and I liked it! Saw some deer in woodland - not the best photo I’ve ever taken (and I think I might have missed the focus a little) but for an unprocessed jpeg straight out of the camera I’m pretty happy

Been a while since I posted anything in here (mostly because I've barely used the camera). We finally made it to Iceland, so expect a few more (also posted elsewhere on TP)... I bought a Z8 because I shoot a mixture of different subjects and wanted the AF performance, but most of its use seems to be for landscapes. Z8 with Z 14-24 S

Afternoon,

Anyone ordered and received their z5ii?

Thank you

Nikon gives 1 year warranty on their cameras, right? Is it same for lens I believe?
Don't you think its a bit too short? I would think 2 or 3 years would be nice.
Does it mean they are nto so confident it their hardware?

A little patch of Wild Garlic, just a few minutes walk from my house. Came across it a couple of days ago while out on the morning walk with the Wife, went back this morning without the Wife, took the Zf & 24-120 instead. :ROFLMAO:

Really tempted by a Z8 and 180-600, any samples?
It's big, quite heavy and focus could be faster.
But it's versatile and covers a good range. For it's price it's a decent purchase.

Austin 7 Ruby ...... I think it was called a "Ruby" - I had one in the early 60's along with a 1932 Austin 12/6 Lightweight

Nikon Zf - 40mm Nikon

Hi

Apart from the smallrig en el15c what other non OEM batteries are you using?

How well have they worked?

Thinking of getting another spare battery but with the usb charging port as a back up.

Thank you

Edit: Saw that the orange smallrig was reduced on Amazon so have ordered that.

Thank you

I have a couple of RAVPOWER batteries that work in my Z7ii, but not in my ZF. I’m guessing they won’t work going forward any gen 3 bodies.

I tend to shop around now and buy OEM batteries when I find them on sale.

I have some OEM ones but wanted one I can charge directly from usb in case I forget my charger.

The OEM batteries charge directly from the camera using a power bank (need a chunky PB), my EN-EL15c batteries do anyway… You do need the right USB lead though, I use the Nikon supplied one.

Any recommendations for the recipes from the imaging cloud? I’m hoping to find something that is similar to Fujifilm classic chrome.

I’ve got the Z6 iii. I bought it as a companion to my Zf. And solely to use with AF lenses.
I’m not keen on it in the hand. It doesn’t need to be an action or video camera.
Z5 ii looks smaller with enough features for my uses.
Just musing. Anyone got one. Or on their want list ?
