Nikon Z* mirrorless

I have a question - I'm not an expert in equipment, so wanted to ask you guys.
Is there a flashlight for Nikon that I could use in both situations - on my Zf and separated, like from hand or from side of the subject but somehow wirelessly connected to camera?
I understand that there are triggers, that you mount on camera, but is there a smallish flash for Nikon that would have built in trigger that it splits when unmounting from camera or something like that?
Can't camera trigger flash by itself?

Normally our traditional walk in November above the Neckar valley focuses on the autumn colours, especially the vineyards like the first one.

But yesterday the mists descended and the next two were more typical of what we were seeing

I don't think there is.
When a camera has a built-in flash, that can be used to trigger a remote flash. Other than that I think you need a trigger.
I used SB-910's years ago with Nikon CLS.

2 x Godox flash or flash and trigger probably a decent solution, though some flashes are even cheaper than Godox now

Who’s got a Z8 then?

One of the things that really bugs me on the Z7ii is the red/green focus box. I can’t see it most of the time when I’m in the woods.

One of the Nikon reps told me at the Photo Show that you can change the focus box to white on the Z8. Is this true does anyone know?

Focus point in afc changes from red to green when focus is acquired.
3D tracking focus point is in white but changes to green when locked on.

There's also an option to thicken the lines that show the focus point, it's very handy.

Thanks for the info chaps. Looks like the guy on the Nikon stand was clueless then.

Need to try one to see then, pointless moving to a Z8 if it can’t be done. It’s one of those small things that makes a huge difference. Not sure why this can’t be done more easily.

Thanks Trevor, thats good info. Thanks for digging it out.

I’m pretty sure thats the same with the Zf isn’t it? Almost what I would prefer, ideally I’d like the focus point colour option for single AF etc. to be white.

Seems I’m not the only one, I guess there’s quite a few of us colourblind people out there that struggle with this. I end up having to re-centre the focus box to the middle and almost count down and across when I’m changing focus positions.

Zf. Sadly can’t change the focus point colour.

I’m with you mate. You’d think a simple firmware update would give us more options.

You can also increase the width of the focus box border on the Z8. Making it a bit easier to see.

Just ordered a Z6III from e-infinity now it’s down to £1859. First new camera since the original z6, so I can’t wait!
Have you got it yet. Any feedback ?

Just put in an order to Cambrian for Z8 - 24-120Z combo (plus FTZII)...

Tempted by Panamoz but I've know Cambrian for 30+ years so even if spending more I don't mind, they beat the best UK prices,.

I’ve just re-joined the Nikon club (my last Nikon camera being the D700).

Nikon Z9
Nikon 24mm f1.8 S
Nikon 35mm f1.8 S
Nikon 50mm f1.8 S
Nikon 85mm f1.8 S

I’m looking to do a lot more with video so this seemed like one of the best hybrid cameras.

My last main Nikon was also the D700 which I had a lot of time for although it was a terrible dust magnet for some reason. You're clearly into primes -- I also have the 35 and 85 f1.8 though they get used less than the zooms, partly as I'm doing less events/portraits than previously. Where were you in the meantime out of curiosity?

Like the first b&w image. Very atmospheric.
Second and third images are good but less atmospheric and dont draw me in as much but I do prefer the wider shot of the falls.
Fourth image is interesting, is the river normally that powerful or with so much water?

Thanks JK. The first shot was using the deep contrast (or whatever it’s called) mono on the b&w switch. We’ve not had a lot of solid rain for the past few weeks, only mizzle/low cloud, but if anything that water level is lower than normal

Good to see you’ve kept the Zf mate.

It must have been a senior moment when I thought about selling. I get a lot of those!
I think that we all have those moments of decisiveness that seem to fade with further thought or introspection
I have vascillated over the issue of running two camera systems Nikon and Fuji ever since I got my X100 in 2012, only to compound it with getting the Fuji GFX 100S and 50R as well!

Friend of mine recently bought a Z5 with the 24-200, looks like she won't be disappointed...
That kit was how I got my first 24-200. I then upgraded it to the 24-120, but regretted it and repurchased a 24-200. Very versatile lens.

Hi
I've been looking at the Z 70-200mm F2.8. There is a promotional discount offer on new at the minute, thing is there are a lot of used ones for sale. 17 at Wex & MPB, not looked anywhere else. All reviews look good, is it just one of those lenses that people don't keep long.

One of my workhorse lenses.

Great lens to have. Sometimes dealers get ex-display, rental, returns etc.. from Nikon and hence the higher stock levels. I initially bought the 70-180mm f2.8 lens but unfortunately my was soft in the 70-105mm range wide open. The 70-200mm is spot on wide open throughout the range and takes my 1.4TC well when needed. I cant see me selling mine anytime soon.

I see there's a minor firmware update released for the Zf, HERE
