Nikon Z* mirrorless

It wasn't fungal growth it was the internals fogging up when you change lenses.
That means there's a temperature difference between the lens/camera and the environment. This commonly happens when you keep your equipment in the air-conditioned room that you're staying in. This can easily be avoided by keeping the kit in the bag and overnight in the bathroom with the door shut. If he gets fogging internally he's likely to have the same externally. In this case it makes no sense to be changing lenses at that particular moment in time..

I got fogging in the Eden Project after at least 30 minutes of being in the (tropical?) dome.

Depending on what time of year that is, 30 mins may not be enough for your lens to equalise.

It definitely wasn’t!

Harrison Cameras are showing a Z9 in stock if anyone is interested.

I've bought a 1.4TC from Nikon direct as they apparently had stock in. Let's see about lead times! Next will be the 400 4.5 and a Z9

Lovely morning over Cannock Chase yesterday shooting in the woods with the Z7ii & 24-70. Definitely have the 24-120 f4 on my radar for that little bit of extra reach which would be useful.

Overall I’m really impressed with the Z7ii, a hell of a machine. 375E3614-4F68-4C1D-B24F-B1EF59A3CB96.jpeg

Lovely capture and yes it really is a great camera, I had one and loved it just needed the improved autofocus speed for wildlife and hence selling for Z9, if I did more landscape than wildlife etc I would still have a Z7II

Thanks Adam, yeah I don’t shoot anything fast and it’s mostly on a tripod so it’s perfect for me.

Meant to say I was pleasantly surprised at the 24-70 f4 lens attached to my Z9, at least as sharp as my ( now broken) ole 2.8 f lens ( centre sharpnesses) and ridiculously light in comparison. I did miss the extra stop or so but I can live it for a bit whilst I save for the 2.8Z lens, or may even just buy a wide lens and keep the f4 a bit longer

Personally I wouldn't pay north of £5k for a camera and then take the risk of using a non OEM battery.

Never had any issues in 25 years so dont expect any now. I know there are now at least 4 or 5 companies producing the batteries which are compatible and possibly some are made by the same companies that Nikon use( unless they produce their own which im jot sure they do)

Anyone used any aftermarket batteries in the Z9 yet. I have used them without issue in other cameras so looking at a spare for emergencies. .
With the non availability of the Nikon battery earlier in the year I bought a Wasabi Power equivalent. this worked absolutely perfectly.
You've reminded me that I really need to sell it - my need for it disappeared once the long-backordered Nikon battery turned up!

Chris, if you are interested in selling i may be interested. My wife goes to New York in 3 weeks so if you cant find it before then i will pass as she will get me 1 or 2 from B&H. Cheers for the reply.
I have it in front of me. My Nikon battery turned up literally a week after I got it so it has seen few power cycles.
To keep within the forum rules I do need to create a for sale ad.

My 1.4TC has landed from Nikon directly. It seems like they're back out of stock now so I think I was lucky.

Time to experiment with it on the 70-200.

They're very difficult to come by and the prices even grey importers are charging is eye watering. I'd be looking one to add to my 70-200mm also, so I'll be looking forward to your thoughts of the pairing.

Other than the stop change and focal length change, the Z1.4x doesn't affect anything else, it's superb. The 2x loses a little contrast and sharpness but very slight and not noticeable unless you pixel peep.

Since the 400 4.5 Z has landed the price of used 500mm PF’s has bombed.
I‘m keeping mine but seeing that Wex are selling 9+ condition ones at 2899 I asked for a trade in price.
I’ve bought used from Wex in the past and mine is easily 9+ so I gave it that rating.
Their buy in price came back at £1532!
I suspect they don’t want it but hey if I do want to sell it to them a 90% mark up would compensate.

I’ve just had something similar with MPB. Asked for a price on my mint hardly used and fully boxed etc. Nikon Z6 II. They have like new ones on their website for nearly £1700 which is what I’d rate mine at, and they offered me just £1k for it. So that nearly a 70% mark up (assuming they put it up for the same price), for basically giving a 6 months warranty. Thanks but no thanks.

Amazon bargain on the Nikon store for the 24-70 f2.8

Amazon Nikon Store

However it looks like a 3rd party seller, shame. Looks too good to be true so probably is !

I definitely need to actually "take" more photos rather than just collecting all this gear, but recently I've been using my Z7 and ZFC but with.. an adapter that allows full AF of all my canon lenses. I've only got the Canon 200 2.8, Canon 50 1.4, and the 24-105 L but they work AMAZING on the Z7. Nikon doesn't have the same lens available (with AFS) so it's the only option... even CAF works perfectly!

I was wanting the Z8 as well which would have been my ideal body (assuming the rumoured spec is correct), but if they don’t officially announce it until Feb / Mar next year ( or even later), and there’s another years wait for orders, that would take me into 2024 before I most likely had one in my hands. As both my Nikon Z6 & Z7 II’s are almost exclusively used with the battery grip, I thought the size of the Z9 wouldn’t be too much of a burden. TBH, it feels great in the hands and although on paper it’s slightly heavier than the aforementioned bodies with a grip and two batteries, I can’t actually feel it and and dimension wise it’s actually a little smaller.
