Nikon Z* mirrorless

Go on make me envious ! How much did you pay ?

I paid £809 from Amazon. Think a couple of others here got one at that price too. I couldn’t find a used one for less than that at the time!

Same price here. Had to wait a few days as it was on backorder. Arrived much quicker than the expected date though. If the Amazon bargain doesn't get repeated then, iirc, Grays also have them discounted occasionally.

Thanks :) I have seen a second hand one for £775 but I'm worried about the quality control issues with this lens

Wandered into Grays a couple of years ago as we were in London…. and I was keen to look at what stock they had.

Looked at us like we were something the cat had dragged in. Wife said I was never allowed to buy from them if they were the last Nikon dealer on earth!

finally taken the plunge and ordered a z6 ii from panamoz. Ordered with the adaptor, but also ordered the 85mm 1.8 as it was still discounted on amazon. Just got to wait for it to arrive now, can't get over the price of cfexpress type b cards though :S. Got a wedding mid august and wanted the camera in time for it to go alongside my D750, had to get it ordered as time has ran out to give me time to get used to it before the day!

It's a great lens. I got mine for the same deal as Wibbly and it's defo a keeper. One of my most used AF lenses along with the 24-70. The only other AF lens I'd want is the 100-400.

Another very decent lens worth looking at is the TTartisan 11mm f/2.8 FishEye in NIKON-Z mount. I picked one up from a seller in Greece for £145 and for the price it's a bargain! Really fun lens to have in the bag.

They can be quite snooty and pretentious. Their site is also outdated and equally pretentious. I've spoken to them a couple of times but haven't purchased anything. They were fine with me but I went through boarding school on a scholarship and can do a good Eton-Harrow accent when needed. ;)

Obviously why they aren’t for me in that case :ROFLMAO:
Funnily enough I didn’t have the issue at the Leica store. ;-)

Well I‘ve ordered a used 14-30 and should arrive on Thursday !

Can anyone recommend a CPL filter that doesn’t vignette ?

I use a NiSi 100mm square filter system with my 14-30, which has the integrated CPL. No vignetting with that.

Some shots from a trip to Marwell with my Son this week. I've included a 1-2-1 crop of the dragonfly to show just how sharp the 70-200s is even with the 1.4x convertor on. All taken with the 70-200+1.4x so most at 280mm

Had mine delivered this morning from Grays of Westminster, not a bad price, plus I've got a 3 year warranty on it, as I renewed my membership to the Nikon Owner.

Quick question guys….
My rental z7ii arrived today and I think I’m all set up for a shoot tomorrow. One thing, testing the camera quickly today, the af mode was in eye af wide, when the camera found an eye, I didn’t get the option to select which eye. There was a yellow box, tracking the eye but no arrow to switch the eye.
Is this a specific setting ?
Thanks
Chris

it likely only detected one eye. It happens a fair bit tbh.

Cracking shots on your Flickr too Chris

Well my £18.98 ‘Genuine’ Nikon EL15 arrived from eBay today.

If it is a fake it’s a flipping good one - checked the guide above and others and no concerns. Checked images of genuine batteries (including units on MPB) and there is nothing suspicious.

Popped it in the camera and it works with no messages etc. Battery info in the menu says it at 80% charge and is new. Maybe I‘ve been lucky or the fakes have got better ?
Probably not a fake. I’d imagine there are a fair few people that buy a camera kit, get a few batteries along with it and when it’s time to upgrade either include the extra batteries with the kit or sell them separately? Doesn’t seem weird to me at all.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure its a fake - Nikon stop making these in 2019 yet the date on the one I rec'd was 2021.....

First trip into a big City since Covid - also my first trip with the Z5 and 24-200. What a lovely camera, the JPEG's are superb, lovely colours and very pliable.

The bottom two were taken on the Uber water taxi so very impressed with the IBIS also !

The limitation with the Nikon Z5 is me. I still have the feeling it is more camera than I can justify. Trip to Dingwall for a few days this week.

Just saw that the Viltrox AF 24mm and 35mm f/1.8 Z lenses are available for pre-order, and will be shipping next month! Hopefully they sell well and a few of the other existing viltrox lenses get the z treatment too in the near future!

85mm is available too

Indeed, but that’s been out for a while!

In fact, I’ve just taken delivery of the viltrox 85mm Z, ordered tentatively from AVM photo (the price seemed too good to be true, but they have an eBay shop and a bit of a social media presence so I took a punt, on my credit card for protection!)

Ordered on Wednesday, and came today via royal mail! The lens looks great, and so glad to no longer be swapping the FTZ around. Can’t wait to give it a proper try at the weekend!

Used them a few times when I shot Fuji. Always great service.

Interesting, I may need to look a little closer at the 35mm....

From early (non-real world tests) I’m really impressed with the 85mm.

I’ll wait and see about pricing for the Nikon 40mm f/2 as it looks appealingly tiny, but if it’s too expensive that Viltrox 35mm may well be going on the shopping list.

There was also a rumour of Viltrox making a 16mm f/1.8 for Sony I think, that I’d be very interested to see ported over to the z mount!

I’m never going to need/want/be able to afford one, but the Z9 could be an impressive bit of kit:

Picked up a converter to use my M lenses on the Z6, fit and finish looks quite good.

Anyone here shooting adapted glass on their Z's and have any tips tot get the best from them?

It does sound like an absolute monster and I really hope that it is. To get the pros away from the D6/D5 and even D4. Even Nikon has hyped it with comparisons to other manufacturers cameras, they better deliver. I'd love it, but way out of my price range. The more state of the art tech in it, the better. This will trickle down with every new release. Z7III will be my next purchase probably.

I shoot almost exclusively adapted MF lenses. Check into the "Vintage Lenses" thread on here. Loads of info and members doing the same. I'm on a Z6 too.
