NIKON WT-2 WIRELESS TRANSMITTER - setup

I've got the WT-1 which is similar for my D2x. It works well. From memory, the case of the SSID and the WEP key are important.
On your router, can you see the WT-2 picking up an IP address?
If so then you may have an issue with whatever is running for your FTP server. I use ITP Pro 2.0 from Pixagent, which is excellent. It will allow you to FTP the files, and then instantly display the last one, or indeed do a slideshow. There a whole host of settings on it that I havent used as well.
The most important bit is wether the camera is picking up an IP address. Once that is known then we can look at the software.

I tried to connect it via my BT Broadband wireless router, which it did find.
Maybe one thing i dont understand is the way i should do it.
I have a separate computer (not attached to any router) in which i have a
108Mbps PCI 802.11G WIRELESS LAN NETWORK ADAPTER CARD
installed.
I want just to have the image sent to a folder on this computer each time i take one.
Bearing in mind that i have not installed any Nikon software on it yet.
What would be the best way to go about this

From memory you have to FTP the file. You cannot simply copy it like a windows file copy. You need FTP software on your PC to "receive" the files. You can set up a peer to peer connection between the separate PC and the WT-2, rather than use the Router, but I found that more difficult.
If you download the free version of ITP at www.pixagent.com then it takes you through an easy setup for the WT-2 where it allows you to save the config to a CF card and load it into the WT-2. Saves using the Selector for putting in loads of Hex numbers.
When you take the shot and it tries to send the file, do you get "network error" or "FTP Error"? That will tell you wether yo have the link to the router/PC or wether you are simply lacking the FTP software.
I'll get mine out later and see if I can help any more.

If you just want to connect to that one computer, and assuming that computer is not connected to your broadband router, you need to set up a separate network on that PC and connect the Nikon WT-2 to it. Is this what you are doing?

@ allanm, i haven't done anything yet, i have a comp, not on the BT router network, its not linked to any network as yet. I,m waiting to find the best way to do it.
i use WS-FTP pro as my internet site FTP program, will i need a prog similar to this to be able to get the images straight off the D2xs onto the comp?

WS-FTP pro is an FTP client, not a server.
You need to set up your PC with an FTP server, ITP is good, and the free version works well, as it is deigned specifically for this task. Give it a go and see what you think.
If I was you I would set it up through your router in Infrastructure mode, as that's where I've had most success. I would therefore also connect up the other PC to your router as well, either through the wireless connection or preferably cabled.
Give it a go and let me know how you get on.
