Nikon VR lens?

gonna go into Jessops today. i can get the 70-300mm VR lens for £330 from their with their current sales discount, they should also have the 55-200mm VR lens in too, for about £240. i know i can get the 55-200mm VR lens cheaper but i'm gonna try and see if they can price match with some online outlets (especially as i bought my camera from them). any idea if they do that kinda thing?

I think they do. Just haggle and if you can't get it from there get it from Warehouse Express - they have next day delivery if you order before 4pm.

You won't find it hard to handle at all. I've just spend two hours shooting with it on my d70 - and I'm a 13 year old kid with small hands. My arms don't ache at all.

went into Jessops today. Unfortunatly they didnt have the 70-300mm VR in stock, but i'm gonna order it online today to collect from instore. theres no obligation to buy apparently, but if i like it i may go for it. Tried out the 55-200mm VR today, and though its a good lens, it didnt have enough zoom for my liking.

Keep going you are nearly there, think you will find the 300mm is worth the extra over the 200mm, particularly when its equivalent to 450mm on the DX.

Thanks Sheep. thats what the assistant said. as soon as he told me its equivalent to 450mm on the DX, i think he sold it for me. just hope i like it when it comes in. gonna try and get them to sell it to me for £300:lol::lol:, as i've become a regular customer since i bought my D40x in there a few weeks back. got loads of memory cards, a couple of camera bags, a filter, etc. just need to find an online shop that sells the lens for £300 now so i can try and get them to do a price match:lol::lol:

I'm guessing they won't price match from a store in HK?

i think its gotta be a .co.uk address

Glad you like it Ewan. is it worth the £300+? (cant wait to see some piccies by the way)

The blackbird in the Animals & Nature section is taken with it :)

I think it's definately worth it - Bloomin' long though. 25cm at 300mm with the hood on!

It comes with front and rear lens caps, and a great little bag to store it in. Also a metal(I think) lens hood.

OK. My 300mm VR arrived today - 'tis a great lens :)

Congrats Ewan, have fun. Your right tis a really good lens for the money :)

ok, i think i've now narrowed it down to either the 18-135mm or the 18-200mm VR lens. dont want to keep having to buy lens, and changing them so these two are the better options for me

I can get the 18-135mm for £202 with a UV filter, but i have to buy it today

I'm gonna phone now to see if they have the 12-200mm VR still in stock (it was there yesterday but someone was interested in it). if it is i'm gonna ask whats the best price they can do on it.

either way i'm gonna get a new lens today (i hope!!).

ok, i've just bought my next lens. after much deliberation, i decided to go with the 18-135mm lens. Couldnt justify the additional £300+ for the 18-200mm VR. tried them both out, and yes the 200mm VR is a great lens, but the 18-135mm is a decent enough lens for my needs so i'm happy.

I saw the 70-300 VR today and its too heavy for me to carry and hold for a long time. it would therefore be impractical for me. lovely lens though!
