What a week i'm having with computers this is just not my week!

My nikon software has died today, I have always used the above 2 softwares for transfering pics from my camera & then the initial viewing before decided which images to edit in PS.
Today these have both stopped working, I deleted them from my laptop & reinstalled from the disc, which still didnt work, so then downloaded the latest versions direct from the Nikon site, but still no joy with it. if I try to transfer I get to the point where it tells me how many pictures are in the que, then when I press start transfer the programme just closes itself. View nx lets me see the thumbnails of images on my system from previous shoots, however when I click on 1 of these to view it the programme crashes, I get a message saying windows will search for a solution then just goes to viewnx is not responding & freezes up:bang:

Searching online it seems like this is a common problem, but noone seems to know the remedy for correcting it.

Anyone help me with this please:shrug:

yes - dont use them - rubbish
connect camera to pc
open 'computer' - see Nikon D5000 as a drive
open to view images
select all - copy to a folder such as 'new 27/11/10'
view in PS Elements 7 and edit

sorry if that's a bit basic but why complicate life...works for me

haha finishes last of Shiraz and retires....................:exit:

Are you using viewnx2? Windows 7??

I quite like viewnx2 (far better than viewnx) and it's crashed on the odd occasion when downloading, but it's free and is faster than capturenx2

I tried view nx2 & downloading niew nx again but all stopped working.
Have just deleted all the Nikon tat off my computer & downloaded faststone image viewer for viewing raw files before ediiting, & must say am impressed with it so far, so now can view raws to decide the keepers etc then edit as normal in PS before converting to jpeg! jobs a good en!

Nikon software might require a reasonable amount of ram & processor speed. I have got phenom II 905e & 4gb ram but it used to run pretty slow on my old vaio laptop (FS215z)

Perhaps, but it has ran fine on my system for donkeys years & just stopped today:shrug: Oh well I have found a workaround so all good I spose.
