Yes
Been upset by Nikon UK (software issue) so am now looking for something different.
For the last 2 years I have done virtually nothing photo wise due to a replacement hip that turned out worse than my original, in 3 weeks time I go in to hospital again to hopefully put my replacement one right and to change the other at the same time . Hoping this time it will greatly improve my mobility.
I'll be keeping my DX2 and a couple of lenses as my wife enjoys using it but will be looking to swap my extremely low mileage D3 and several lenses, flashes etc for something lighter and different to the norm and was thinking of the Alpha 900
I've just bought an A33 and a 27" imac so it's all going to be a steep curve, have any of you out there made the change to Sony and how have you found it.

Don't change to Sony just because of the software...I don't quite follow your issue there.

The A900 is a superb machine - I shoot Nikon and Sony and the low ISO acuity of the A900 smokes everything Nikon do apart from the £4.5K D3X. Same sensor.. just £3k cheaper.

It really depends what you shoot.

I know the A900 attracts several Nikon owners solely due to the A900. I guess if Nikon had put that sensor in the D700 body that would not be the case.

I would urge you to physically try it first because its what you think that counts, not what I, or anyone else thinks.. Lot of money switching...so you need to be comfortable with it.

Thanks Andy, not just because of the software, but just for info, after arguing fruitlessly over a serial number with them my principles will not let me purchase any kind of Nikon product again and if this seems to be case of cutting off my nose so be it.
Must admit I've been looking at Sony for sometime so this just tipped the scales so to speak.

I came straight from film to the a900 and love it, partnered with Carl Zeiss lenses and Dxo processing software I can't see any room for improvement.. except in my own skills.

Well Sony here I come :)
Just finished putting all my Nikon gear back in their original boxes, will be photographing it and listing it in the classifieds soon, thought I would feel quite sad about it but actually I'm quite excited.

Ok so Nikon have upset you due to bad customer service in some form, do you really think Sony or anyone else is actually going to care any more? Its all about making money these day, all else goes out of the window..........

If you already have the D3 and good glass, I'd stick with unless money is less of an issue.
