Yes
there is a lot of the use of the word inspection and check but very little promise of replacement and new parts etc.

Yeah, free servicing means they try to find something they can charge you for and then give you a quote for parts, labour and VAT and delivery.

Well Miles and others can service cameras also, but Nikon, Canon etc (or an entrepreneur) are not interested in correcting old lenses with faulty elements with a collimator ( a m\c for correcting the elements in a faulty lens).....with prices going up for the recommended ones, and digi guys also using them, you'd think there would be some money to be made in this type of service....get the old lens engineers out of their beds to earn some spare cash. :D

I don’t think anybody suggested free servicing but although I’m happy with the service offered by Miles I’d love to see Nikon offering technical support for their old equipment. I’m not expecting it to be free or cheap but if they can keep my old Nikon cameras on the road then I’ll be happy.

I wish I could remember which company it was; it was, I'm sure, either cars or motorcycles, that had a department manned by rather eccentric, wild eyed and wild haired hairy assed engineers wit factory tans who would repair any model produced by the company ever.

Might cost you several small fortunes and at least one kidney, but they would get it sorted.
