Recommendations for the above please, all I want is for it to be able to High Speed Sync and not need a degree to use it manually. Can't afford (and don't want) Nikon SB units.

Would have a YN560 but would prefer to have HSS ability.

IIRC, the YN568EX has HSS compatibility. Thats the only difference between the 560EX (which I own and love) and the 568.

Hope that helps!

Only the top of range third-party guns have HSS. Dropping it, and master/commander operation, cuts the cost. Metz, Nissin, Yongnuo etc. YN 568 is cheapest.

Like the look of that one, any users here?

The 568 and the 560 are identical. As I said, I own the 560 and it's absolutely brilliant. Can't speak for HSS but for everything else.. Build quality, recharge times, power output, connectivity, ease of use.. It's absolutely fantastic! I can't fault it for what I use it for

I have the 568 great bit of kit best bang for your buck as far as third party goes

I've got a 568 and SB700. The 568 doesn't work as a master, but does everything else. Works OK at 1/8000 s.
Its well made and certainly worth the money.

Quite right. Sorry, I forgot to add in my previous post that the 568 is intended to be used with YN 622 triggers for mastering. A bit more money of course, but still great value for radio mastering, rather than the light-code alternative masters.

There seems to be some confusion regarding the 560ex. This is like the 565ex, but doesn't do on-camera TTL. So its a great alternative to use as a slave if you already
have a flash to act as master. It also has no HSS.

560ex. Manual only on-camera, CLS slave, no HSS
565ex TTL on camera, CLS slave, no HSS
568ex TTL on-camera, CLS slave, HSS

Hope this helps.

I'm still thinking of getting one of these, however the stumbling block is i now have the Flex TT5 trigger system, and i still can't seem to find out the compatibility of the 568 with these, however presumably i could trigger my SB900 with the flex, and use the SB900 to trigger the 568, but then i'm guessing i couldn't use the AC3 to change settings on the 568 as i could on the SB900, any thoughts Richard :)

Not at all sure that will work.

I would either stick with Nikon/PW, or sell the PW and go YN. Main advantage of PW is the enhanced performance features IMHO, but if you're not using those...? Don't think YN622 for Nikon is available yet though.

Yes the reason i got the PW's was for the advanced features, and as you say the YN622 is not available for Nikon yet, i don't really want to fork out on another SB900 if i can help it, but if that is the only way i guess i will, other than that i need to find something that will be compatible with the PW's i think Calumet have a new flash, but again not available in Nikon yet :bang:

Suggest contact PW re alternatives to Nikon guns, they're very helpful.

If it was me, I'd get another SB900, maybe look out a used one. It's a great gun, most powerful I've ever tested, and you know it works 100%.

Yes i think your right Richard, all said and done, the SB900 is pretty hard to beat, with no compatibility issues, i will need to save a few more pennies now though :)

Cheers guys, I will be getting a 568 when the funds allow! (had to do an extra respray on the car, not to mention the need to replace my Tokina 11-16 so flash which I use virtually 0 of is well down the list for funds allocation at present!)
