Nikon TC‑200 TeleConverter to use with my Nikon D5100 and Sigma 150-500mm

From what I have read previously when similar questions have been asked you will loose 2 stops of light and probably the ability to auto focus. I have a 150-500 myself and it Is hard enough to get a decent shutter speed at 500 mm at f6.3 never mind 2 stops more.

i have read simular but on a nice sunny day it might be ok, i can buy the above converter for £65 so i just wanted to check the compatability before buying as if it is compatable i wouldnt mind trying to master it even if it does stop down by 2 or more

I am not sure that the Nikon TC is compatable with Sigma lenses without filing something off.

Not sure if the 150-500 Sigma will physically fit onto the Nikon telecom - I know that some lenses' rear elements make contact with the "front element" of the telecom. f/11 might be pushing the boundaries of the AF capabilities, even on a nice sunny day.

Kevin, nikon convertors do not fit on Sigma lenses unless modified, google it you'll find out how to do it, its a faf. You can pick up the sigma 2x tc secondhand for around £100. I wouldn't bother if I was you, I tried it on my old 150-500, manual focus, viewfinder like the black hole of calcutta, images were useable but not particularly sharp!

NO tele-convertor will work with that lens ,be it nikon, sigma,or kenko the camera will definitely not a/f with one on ,so your limited to manual focus only and totally terrible i/q .
what most people don't realise is t/c's are made for prime lens use and thats in reality with top end bodies (especially with nikon) and top end lenses .if you really need that extra focal length and its for static subjects i.e birds at rest etc your only real answer is to try astro-scoping but theres a lot involved in that
