Nikon Speedlite on metal mounting....Update.

Dave if you scroll to the bottom of that article it implies that the better option would be to replace it with the Stroboframe cold shoe, thats identical to the cold shoe I sent you the link for in your original thread

Yes, they can, but only in SU-4 mode, which switches off the connection to the foot. Personally I wouldn't risk it when we're talking about a £300+ flashgun, apart from anything else most flashes just fall out of those coldshoes if the move them off the horizontal.

It's a moot point, as Lastolite don't use that design of coldshoe any more, they've replaced it with clamp type one, which has clearance between the flash pins and any metal.

Flash
I have not seen the original post mentioned by someone above. I have just bought a lastolite bracket it has a tiny screw in the side of the plate, is this safe to use, the assistant said it was a new design, to stop the flashgun falling, but he never mentioned anything about metal, sorry if this sounds abit jumbled. Don't want to blow my flash

OK dave, I tried to help in both threads but obviously your not interested

No problem Dave, I hope you resolve your issue, I have had great success using the stroboframe type metal hotshoe, the channel ensures that the pins from the flash are nowhere near metal and do not touch anything, I was very concerned about this initially as were you but I took the chance and am extremely happy with the mounts, they are very sturdy and work well for me, the fact that they are a clamp type as well should ensure a good fit and the chances of accidents are much reduced, from what I can gather the newer lastolite ezybox has this newer type of cold shoe (although cant confirm this as I dont have one)

Good luck in your quest, Im enjoying my off camera flash stuff, its a little bit addictive
