Hi all,

I have just found out about Nikons Capture NX2.
It appears to be great at displaying RAW images.
Does this come free with the purchase of a new Nikon?

My D80 is secondhand, the cheapest price for Capture I can find is on Amazon at £124.

I have downloaded a 30 day trial.

No it does not come free, I use it and like it, others do not.

There is a good guide book available "Capture NX2 by Ben Long"

Just found this online:

Nikon UK will be offering the Capture NX2 software free with the Nikon D700 DSLR. Customers purchasing a D700 camera from 1st November to 31st December 2008 (inclusive) can claim a free copy of the software. More details available here.

That was over a year ago, worth checking a few retailers as they sometimes have it on offer, Fixation were selling it for £50 a while back.

Personally I think it is worth the money, I tried several (Lightroom et al) and preferred the interface of CaptureNX2, the general thought is that it produces the best results for Nikon raw files.
