Nikon software suite problems

Has anyone had a problem with the CD bundled with their DSLRs?
Not long got one and the bundled software doesn't run on either my mac or PC :thinking:

Am I better off using something else? I would like to manipulate the raw files and combine files from bracketed images.

Have you tried the free View NX2? That will do raw files from any Nikon camera, but will not do combining. Else you can try Photoshop Elements, which you have to buy. For combining bracketed images, try FDR Tools, free, or Photomatix, not free but you can try it for free.

Yup! The CaptureNX that came with my camera doesn't work at all. Just seizes on my iMac and then you have to "force quit" it.

I don't know why it's not working. The newest version of NX2 Capture seems more stable than the last version I tried. I like it. I havent used photoshop though.

I have View NX2 & Capture NX2 running on both Vista & W7

The software installed on my Mac Book Pro but won't display any RAW files and occasionally hangs so I have to force it to quit. Works perfectly on Windows 7.

Thanks Guys.

I have tried several ways of getting the software on my PC and on the Mac but still have no luck. A friend has Photomatix and rates it highly. I'll give that a trial run and see how I get on.

Yes you can - or at least you could the last time I tried.

Make sure you use the www.nikon.co.uk site and NOT the .com site in the Americas. The codes will not work.

They work perfectly well on my W7 and previous Vista installations - can't quote any Mac experience though.
