Nikon Silver Effects 2 - Question ?

Could someone tell me please how do you open an image to work on in Silver Effects 2?

I open in photoshop, go to the filters menu go down to niksoftware, and choose silver effx (or what ever other nik products you have)

Thank you - very simple when you know how ! that's cracked it

It should also open as a standalone programme (although I can't remember if this needs a different version to the Photoshop plugin) - you just drag a TIFF onto the icon and it should open without Photoshop or any other host programme.

Thank that's very helpful. I tried to drop a JPEG onto the work area which didn't work. I normally shoot in RAW but that didn't work. I did manage to open the image in reverse order by right clicking on the JPEG > open with and that worked. I come to the conclusion that PP is 20% knowledge and 80% experimentation! It used to be so easy in the darkroom

You're not doing it the easy way - there's no need to use right-click/open with.

There's also no need to launch Silver Efex Pro 2 (SEP2) to use it in standalone mode - if you do it won't open the image file.

Just drag the icon of your image file onto the SEP2 icon. Let go of the mouse button when the SEP2 icon turns light blue and the programme will launch. It may take a few seconds for it to open the image file.

i.e. the icon for the application itself, not the icon for the 8BF plugin file.
