Nikon Service Centre or Fixation for service and lens checks?

All my equipment (in my camera bag in the boot of my car) was recently involved in a 60 mph+ road traffic accident impact and I want to send it all off to get it checked over.

Who would you recommend - Nikon or Fixation?

Thanks in advance. :)
 
If you're not the one paying, then Nikon, otherwise Fixation (who I think would be cheaper).

:agree: I had service done by Fixation and all went fine!
 
Fixation are good at what they do and no complaints about quality. Quick too.
 
Send it to Nikon. You will have peace of mind, you know you are fine if you ever need the customer service / support and also, potentially higher resell value as it has been serviced by Nikon.

If the other fella's insurance agree to pay, and don't want a minimum of 3 competitive quotes to compare and approve first? In reality, it will probably be your insurance company that has to agree this, then claim it back from the 'other fella's' insurance.

Normally I would not recommend a company but they were better than excellent, when I dropped my camera

i thought it was just the top and glass but no it was a lot more inside moved or needed replacing.
Not only did it come back like new but also the colour red was correct which it wasn't before. that shows me the went through everything to make sure it was ok, infact better than new

If you are going to make an insurance claim they might insist on using a particular company to carry out the work
 
In my experience it's likely the other insurance Company may try and get you t use their authorised repair centre with threats of not paying etc, in this case you are entitled to get your gear back to pre-crash condition and unless you really take the mickey in respect to costs, they are obliged to pay any reasonable costs. Small claims court etc would back you up on thisI think if you have tried to keep costs to a reasonable level, going to Nikon would seem reasonable to me, so personally I wouldnt give a flying pig for the other insurer's request to go elsewhere if indeed they even mention it.

Because Fixation charge for work that does not need doing and Nikon take weeks upon weeks to do repairs,you lose your camera into some sort of black hole! I have seen posts on forums that amounted to months at the Nikon repair centre

If you have to go with an insurance approved repairer Sendean might be. But if not I would definitly not have anything to do Fixation.

Fixation are 'authorside' and they charge for work that does not need doing!

My experience with Fixation was awful. I could tell they had no intention of keeping costs down. It's really used car salesman type set up :eek:

If the other fellas insurance is paying you chose who repairs your camera not him or his insurance company.

If you were claiming on your own insurance you may have had to use a repiarer of their choice due to a clause in your insurance contract.

But when you claim off someone else in reality you claim of the person who casued the damage and he then passes the matter onto his insurers to indemnify you.
