They both have a tilt and swivel head from reading Ken Rockwell's review, he suggests that the 600 is a better bet because it has the basic features people 'care about'.......but being new to flash the terminology used does not make it easy for me to make my own mind up.
In general I'd say ignore Ken Rockwell (this is the man who says that the 18-200mm is the best portrait lens Nikon have made), but even he doesn't say that the SB600 is the better bet!
What he says is for the difference in price new (the 800 was roughly twice that of the 600) then the 600 is all most people need, but when you're talking about a £30 difference between used examples then it's a no brainer, the 800 wins every time
SB-600 is a brilliant flash and I really can't fault mine. However if you can get an SB-800 for the price you said I think it is s no brainer really.
Both brilliant flashes though
800's every time. If you have a camera with a pop up flash you can often use this to trigger the SB800 - and quell the pop up so little or no light from it is used in the photo....
If the bug bites, you can use multiple - or even pocket wizards to trigger via radio..(Mine just arrived today!!)
As you can ofcourse with the SB600 ;-) If you can easily afford the price difference the choice should be easy, if it is tight then you should never regret the SB600 it is a very very good flash.
