Its entirely possible that I've dreamt this but I seem to remember logging into a Nikon portal somewhere and inputting camera / lens, details / numbers for safe keeping.

If it wasn't a dream could someone please point me in the direction of the portal.

There's also an app called lenstag for ios phones - don't know if on android too. I use it and find it quite handy for peace of mind.
You upload a picture of the serial number too so it can be verified and added to your account. If it gets stolen, the idea is you notify them and the police and hopefully they work together in event of recovery.
