hello all..

What a fool i have been. I went out and got my self a Nikon R1 flash.. thinking it would just work on my D200 with the built in flash.. silly me. looks like i need a Su-800...

Put the D200 into commander mode and it'l be fine

If you've got the D200 manual its all there.

I'm not being deliberately unhelpful - I no longer have a D200 and can't remember!

But the D200 will definately fire the R1 setup, if you set it up in Commander mode.

Pop up the on board flash and go to Menu > Custom Setting Menu (Pencil symbol on the left) > e Bracketing/Flash > e3 Built in flash > Commander Mode. Go to the first box right of where it says Built in and scroll down until -- is entered in the box. You are now able to fire a remote gun without using the onboard flash although the pre-flash will still fire.
