Yes
Nikon announce a price rise for the D800 now £2600 rise of £200, D4 £5300 rise of £500 and the 800E now £2900.
Price rise blamed on an internal systems error.....or have they seen the price of the new Canon gear
Nikon UK will honour preorders before the 24th March
Out of my price range at the moment so will be sticking with my D700.

Well that's made my mind up to stick with what I've got !!

I suppose they can charge whatever they like for their products, but the 'explanation' seems pretty flimsy. I'm more inclined to go with the view that Canon's pricing played a role in this. It remains to be seen if these increases cost them sales, or if the whole issue will just blow over.

Demand is currently way over the level of supply, so they could probably get away with doubling the price without hurting sales short term.

Internal systems error on just launched product? Pretty poor excuse really, I agree - I think they've seen Canon's pricing and got a bit greedy.. should've stuck with their guns.

What really winds me up is that they increased prices in 2009 because of the falling value of sterling. In the last two months the £ has gained about 20% against the yen. Why can't they offset this rise? :(

I was wavering but this greedy price increase has put me right off.

Same here. I was being tempted when Amazon/Play dropped the price of the D800 but no more. Rather pleased Nikon have made my mind up and the money can stay in the bank. I'll stick with the D700.

I've just ordered a 5D MkIII for £2,850 which is obviously under Canon's recommended price. I have seen them advertised as low as £2,630 on some websites in the UK though so maybe Nikon will be forced to re think their pricing again as the Canon's new price drops.
