I've been reading about the pocket wizards for Nikon cameras HERE, apparently they won't be released until august 2010 (unless I've missed something) anyway i wondered if anyone knew of any third party equivalents, i did read somewhere that Phottix may be bringing some out, but can't find any info on them, so anyone got any info please :)

Radio poppers are the only available solution to maintain ttl functionality at the mo

What about these ? Pixel TR-331 TTL Remote Nikon Triggers, discussion HERE

So when these Pocket Wizards are released in August, will they do TTL via radio, am i correct with that...?

This is an alternative to the SU800 which uses RF so they have to be line of site.

In a word yes, and they don't have the problems which you have with the SU800 ie shooting in bright sunlight, although they won't be cheap, i was also looking on some tests on you-tube done with the PWs and the Radio poppers, and for distance the RPs had the PWs beat hands down.

I'd never seen those before. Thanks for that

Hugh i was trawling through the internet trying to find something like PWs last night and came across them, their are quite a few Hong kong based companies selling them on ebay, they range from £112-£120 for the set :)

Just as a heads up from someone who considered them, the Pixel TR-331 don't have the full functionality of the PocketWizards. Although they do TTL, they are basically a cable replacement - you can't have multiple groups with them. (They basically act in the same way as TTL cable - if you can do it with a flash on a cable you can do it with the TR-331s)

You may be happy with the limitations, but I'd say it's worth doing plenty of research before investing in them - there's a very long thread on the Strobist flickr group about them.
