Hi guys, I have Photoshop Elements 5.0 and have just tried to download some raw (NEF) pics from my D300. Slight problem in that PS doesn't recognise the files - any thoughts?

nice one - thanks guys :D now just to work out how to connect that laptop to the interweb when its got the broken ethernet socket........

thanks, thats certainly one of the options I had in mind :D

well, I've managed to get the laptop on a wireless connection, have got that plug in downloaded, but PS doesn't seem to reliase its there so still won't recognise the pics on the camera - this is driving me nuts :(

Have you put the downloaded CameraRaw.8bi file in the in the right place?

1. Exit Photoshop Elements 5
2. Open My Computer.
3. Double-click Local Disk (C:).
4. Navigate to Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5\Plug-Ins\File Formats.
5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the new Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as Step 4.
7. Start Photoshop Elements.

Hope that helps. :)

well, I tried and tried, I even managed to get the file name come up in the plug ins list under the help menu, but didn't do anything that managed got the pics off the camera and into photoshop. However, I got some help last night and apparently you guys were right - I'd not managed to get the file in the correct place. I wonder how PS had recognised it then? Still no matter now its all working fine :D

thanks again for you help guys

Goodwood here we come.........
