Nikon mirrorless definitely on the way

The grip looks OK to me from the front. Forefinger will be on top of the grip, other fingers below the overhang.

The reason you don’t do weddings because you’ve allowed bridezilla to get all the way to after wedding breakfast and still making demands. ;)

Those of us that do shoot weddings usually spotted bridezilla and didn’t book her, but if she did slip through and get booked, there’s no way we’d still be having drama by the wedding day, - nipped in the bud, that’s what we get paid for.

This is the perfect thread to be discussing ‘the customer is always right’ :D

Look at some of the idiotic views of potential customers for this camera, how could Nikon please everyone?

The reason i don't do weddings is because I would probably end up killing someone :D I'm not exaggerating much this time either. Not sure on the last part, I think I'd be well satisfied from what I've seen thus far.

To me, the Nikon Z6 / Z7 seem more geared towards keeping existing Nikon owners from defecting rather than attracting new customers.
I would like them to match / beat the Sony bodies as it would generate more competition and push Sony to innovate even further.
Not long to go now folks until the official announcement happens, maybe Nikon have something new inside their bodies....... who knows.
Weeeeellll unfortunately the announcement is unlikely to tell us anything we don’t already know. What we have to wait for now is for the release and to get some real world reviews.

Which was kinda my point.

Bridezilla doesn’t figure in my life, I’ve interviewed a couple, never booked one.:p

DPReview are very quiet on the subject atm, so come announcement time I expect a flurry of articles like they have had today for a new Panasonic compact. Must be killing them not being able to say anything until the NDA's have expired. I expect a brief hands on report there tomorrow.

Tbh I don’t get much from these brief hands on in a controlled environment, what we need is to wait for Ken Rockwell’s review :ROFLMAO:

Joking aside, proper real world usage gives me far more info.

I came across both bride and bridesmaid zillas at one wedding I shot. My cousin was the groom and I was doing it as a 'favor' as well as a gift, I really didn't like his fiance, she was a bit of a bossy boots at the best of times. The chief bridesmaid followed me around from morning to night, ordering me what to shoot, where I should be next ... I ignored her as long as I could until my tolerance bust! She got a right telling off, I pulled the bride aside also and told her what was happening, she'd been a bit snotty all day but surprisingly she said 'I'll sort her, we're happy with what you're doing don't worry' - and she did! Gave her mate a right good telling off and she didn't come next or near me again. If it had been strangers I'm not even sure how i would have handled it, probably bit my tongue a bit more but even then i'd have my limits

I'm sick to the teeth of the giant ego pros on here mouthing off at everyone who dare make a suggestion they don't agree with.

As far as I recollect Keith you were sick to death of pro photographers the day you signed up here ;)

But I’m sure you’re absolutely justified :tumbleweed:

Nah i was a pussycat until I came here :D

Good for you, you're not one of the many, many photographers I've seen use ocf at weddings, and guess what? nobody was moaning about it and the photos turned out beautiful.

Anyway, this isn't a wedding thread, we're well off topic here. If I want advice on weddings I'll visit the wedding thread, I'm sure it's fun ....

Respectfully, I am good friends with dozens of Irish wedding photographers. I can't think of any that use a lot of OCF - many, like us, use flash incredibly sparingly. As someone else said, it's more of a thing from the past and generally only practiced by more traditional photographers who're fewer in number. And Irish light/weather isn't all that challenging, really. We don't get the extremes that I've experienced working in other countries.

Back on topic, £3399 for the Z7 would probably mean the Z6 will be £2399 or so. That'll be pretty competitive.

Least the Z6 is 12fps which is better than the competition.

The Z7 is not aimed at sports or anything so no need to be as high.

Nothing to go against the A9 though mirrorless wise.

Did you expect it to be bigger?
Possibly not, just surprised me at how much smaller it looks than the D850, but then I think I forget how big the D850 is sometimes. Would be interesting to see a proper side by side with the D750.

Sony isn’t going to give up that A9 sensor tech to the competition for many years.

So am I. Well, you say friends, some of them I can't stand but I know enough of them. You don't have to tell me about the weather lol, I live in it, in winter it's dank, miserable, wet and with many wedding meals not finished until 6pm or thereabouts, and often p***ing rain on the day, you can bet your ass photographers are using lighting for group shots. Next one I'm at I'll be sure to get a picture of them doing just that. I know i'd be delighted if I shot a wedding and didn't feel the need to use a speedlight, be great! it wouldn't be some of the places I've been for weddings. But like Phil suggested, get it done earlier when the light is good, and that is all i will remember from this side-tracking. Seriously, all because an F4 lens was mentioned and i suggested using flash  You wedding togs are way too sensitive about your craft, you're even arguing the blimmin' weather now  It's still August and I had to re-wash a pile of clothes because they got drenched overnight from showers.

Are you considering a Z for your wedding photography?

+2fps Vs + 420 more af points.... Wonder how many z6 are phase.

Tbh 9fps is plenty really, enough for me anyway. Doesn’t say whether these frame rates are with AF tracking or fixed exposure or not though so not getting too excited just yet ;)

Up to others to develop their own. I wonder who will come up with the first global shutter?

I don’t think that’s an issue. It’s quite a unique camera. Guessing the A7iii and R are the better selling. The iii especially so. Spec wise the Z6 looks pretty good so far.

Just for your information because you keep mentioning 6pm after food.

I have never ever shot or been to a wedding where the photos happens AFTER the food so it’s never 6pm, especially in the winter. They have all taken place before food, include the wedding I shot in Ireland once.

That’s just my experience, yours are clearly different in Ireland.

Not sure how many weddings you’ve been to and you said you’ve been to a lot, more than us, things must be so different in Ireland in that they make things more difficult on purpose by shooting the group shots in the dark when there was a perfectly good hour or so between the ceremony and wedding breakfast to shoot it.

I have been to many weddings yes, when you hit your 40's a lot of your friends and relatives have either gotten married already or are in the process of doing so. I also have a large family on both sides, trust me, it's not often by choice I go! The reason I put a stamp on 6pm is because I remember being starving and wishing they'd hurry up with me food! :D

I have seen them do the bridesmaids and groomsmen earlier on, but also larger family group shots indoors, that is the ones I'm referring to. With all the grannies and cousins etc - in a dimly lit hall it can't be easy to get everyone well lit, you're surely stopped down a fair bit? Anyway, I'm clearly a n00b when it comes to wedding photography so nothing more to add really.
