could anyone tell me if it is possible to handhold either of the following two lenses,80mm-200mm 2.8 af-d and the 300mm f4, possibly with a 1.4 tc,also would the 80mm-200mm be any good for uk wildlife.

yes to handholding

I use a 80-200/2.8 AF-D two ring with a Sigma x1.4 APO teleconverter on a D300 with an MB-D10 grip and it's really not a problem weight wise.

As others have pointed out keep your shutter speed as high as you can.

thanks for the reply do you find that set up to be long enough

Used an 80-200 down to 1/100th quite commonly with no shake, just about got away with it at 1/60th breathing out and really focussing on staying steady. It's just about good technique and bracing the camera and lens appropriately to minimise any movement.
