I have D70 two lenses 70 to 300 18 to 70 most of my photos are Children abd cars if you were looking for additional lens what one would you go for any body any thoughts

Another option is the f/1.4; about £150 from a good eBay seller. Also the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 is a very good wide-angle zoom lens. Similar to the Nikon 17-55 f/2.8 but a third of the price.

I couldn't manage with 70-300, have to change it for 80-200 f/2.8.
You should have a 50, if for no other reason its cheap, fast and captain sharp.
If your looking to expand your range rather than improve the quality of the range you allready cover, theres only fisheye or macro.
Seriously though, its a bind but the good stuff is expensive, but worth it.

As mentioned, the 50mm f1,8 is one to consider. The Sigma 10-20mm is also one to have a look at. It is a lot wider than the 18-70mm, good for landscapes, and for interesting distorted close ups, of children or cars. ;)

IQ of the 17-55 is top notch. worth paying for imo. 10-20 is my next lens. Awsome piece of kit if you get a good copy.

I think your only really missing a macro and wide angle.

You could go for the lovely Sigma 10-20mm super wideangle, which I have not regretted selling yet (until snakeman starts posting up some shots!), or there's the Tokina 10-17mm Fisheye zoom that shows a lot more distortion at 10mm than the Sigma.

There are also loads of nice macro lenses that will double up for portraits, theres too many to list and also don't be afraid to look at older mf glass either.

As mentioned by others the Nikon 80-200mm F2.8 ED is a cracking lens and the one I use the most. You already have the zoom range covered. However- image quality wise it is in a different to league to kit lenses and I would get one for that reason alone.

The Sigma 10-20mm Zoom is also a good choice, I'm fairly pleased with the one I bought. Don't use it a lot but the extreme wide angle is useful from time to time.
