Nikon lens repair

Hi guys, I recently dug out my ageing ageing Nikon 300mm F4 AFS after not using it for around 2 years... I forgot how sharp it was.

Problem is, I had a squeak from the AFS motor, which has now got much worse, pretty much I think indicating that the AFS motor is on its way out. Coupled with that, the sliding lens hood has a small crack making it a bit sloppy. Has anyone ever had one of these lenses repaired and can give me an idea of the sort of money t costs please ? Also, where's the best place to have it done - Nikon UK, Fixation, Leeman's etc ?

I have had a couple of Nikon focus motors replaced by Nikon, the last one was on a 70 - 200 in March this year and cost £147 including post, VAT, etc.

Ah thanks, in that case if it's about the same, would be worth doing.
