Lost my lens mount for my 70-200mm VR Lens and Nikon want 60-70 for a new one the robbing sods. Its the bottom part in the picture anyone got any idea's for a cheaper solution. It still has the thread on the lens to screw a different mount.

off the top of my head grab a cheaper lens and take it apart or maybe an extension ring but without schematics/better photos I wouldn't really know what to advise :)

I think it is unique to that lens mate........

When I had my 70-200, I thought it seemed an odd concept for it to be removeable.

Sorry to be of no use whatsoever............again,before Flashybabes says it....

God I read that and thought how did he knock the mount off:eek:

Was then relieved(relatively) to find out you meant the foot.

If it breaks you have to replace the whole lens ?

I kinda like the removable collared foot tripod lens mount adaptable flange spring socket sprocket bush screw clip adapter...:suspect:...it gets on my nerves when shooting hand held..

70-200 is often a favourite portrait lens which would never/rarely be used with a tripod. It makes perfect sense to me to have the mount removable so that those who don't need it don't have to carry the extra weight or hae it get in the way.

No, they're not! My Sigma 170-500 has a removeable collar.

I think you will find he meant the mount to attach it to the camera body "lens mount".

Yes its is! Its a hinged one piece collar, you cant remove the foot of the collar like the Nikons. I have used the 170-500 before to know that it is the same as my 150mm macro.
The Sigma design allows the lens to be reomved from the collar without the camera being removed first.

i think i have confused people here! I meant the lens tripod collar is all one piece and the foot is not seperate from the actuall collar.

my humble appolagies.

Ah! In that case, I refer him to the Tamron Adaptall and T2 mounts.

Ah! Didn't know that the Nikon foot could be removed.
