I can see some dust and tiny hairs/fibres when looking through the viewfinder on my FM3A. I had assumed that this was on the focussing screen so I have replaced the focus screen with a new one but the dust remains.

Does this suggest that it is on the mirror? If so how do I tackle cleaning that?

Thanks,
Rob.

The mirror is easy to clean, just remove the lens and give it a thorough spring clean.

It's possible that it may be crud in the viewfinder which is a little more complicated to remove.

its a bit extreme changing the screen because of dust ,why not just clean it ?
that aside i personally wouldn't touch the mirror ,,very delicate and all that ,i think the only bit you can remove is the focusing screen , i just put up with the crap i see , knowing that it wont affect the image

Agree with the above post - more likely to damage than anything. If a rocket blower doesn't budge anything then leave it be, it'll never be spotless as long as you take it outside!
