I am wanting to purchase a flashgun to go with my Nikon D60, and would really like the SB-600 however im not sure about the price tag (will need father christmas to be very generous this year) can anyone please recommend a cheaper alternative which doesn't compromise on performance???

What is your budget? You can pick them up if you shop around for under £150 second hand CGEEZER has just done so.

Jessops 360AFD - at £99 - HERE {oh and use JESSOPS5 code to get 5% off}

Nikon SB400 at £99

There is a cheaper one too that was about £40 ish, the 300 AFD, try looking on ebay or similar.
 
Just as an update, the 300AFD is HERE but Jessops have none left. The price they were at the end was £34 !!!

There is a 300 AFD for Nikon on ebay for £40 inc postage :)
