Well I understand that due to the pound prices have to rise and cameras have gone up 10 - 15% but are they taking the Mick with their flashguns or what?

Looking at the SB600 Park cameras (local to me) have increased it from £150 to £210 - a 40% increase!

Most online retailers have increased by at least 20% and as a result I am seriously considering whether to just get a Nissin at £87 from warehouseexpress.

I am also tempted to wait and see if prices fall a little if people stop buying at these inflated prices.

Anyone know how prices are likely to move in the future?

Depends how the pound performs, strong pound=cheaper imports, weak pound (like now) dearer imports. The pound has lost around 30% against the dollar and the euro, hence the increases...

Can't see prices falling dramatically for a while.

Boldonian, thanks. As far as I can see there are no decent reviews of the Nissan, and info from the importer is lacking (although I did get them to email me with the user manual eventually).

I have slight worries about the trigger voltage on the Di622 but since its modern and compatible I cant really see a problem. I dont intend using it off camera (except in manual mode with an umbrella occassionally) and I think Nikons recent price hikes have moved me in the direction of the Nissin.

I would appreciate it if you could comment on the Nissins performance as a daylight fill in and indeed its indoor performance (pics even better)

If you could post a mini review I am sure it would be useful for a number of folk on here.

Dave, not sure I'm the best person to write a review as I only use flash occasionally and I'm in no way a 'strobist' . It works well on my Fuji S5 Pro ( Nikon D200 body ) , I only use it when I want fill flash and it swivels and rotates as the SB-600 . The SB-600 was a much better built unit but the Nissin is not that bad. Works off camera as well so if you want to upgrade later it makes a good off cam flash. As I said , the Sigma also gets good reviews. In an ideal world I'd have the SB-600 but the Nissin aint that bad.

Thanks Boldonian - appreciated.

having bought the D90 +18-105 and then the 70-300Vr (had to buy before price went up!) I really cant justify £200 on the SB600. As you say the solution could be get the Nissin then look out for a bargain sb600 when my funds recover!

(oh and theres still the sigma 10-20, and macro lens and a decent bag - just why did i get into this????!!!!)
