Ok, I'm a bit of a spod and I like my data. So I've pulled together a database of *most* (but not all) of the common Nikon FX compatible lenses from Nikon themselves, Sigma, Tamron, Samyang and Tokina. I haven't done Zeiss or others.

It was originally based on the camerapricebuster.co.uk lists which gave me the benefit of having current (as of 2nd April 2016 anyway) pricing. I decided I wanted a bit more info on the lenses so matched that up against the DXOMark database which had many of the same lenses, a few missing and a few additional ones (typically older versions). The big benefit of pulling that database alongside the other one is I then had current UK pricing as well as DXO's scores for sharpness etc. (which is something I'm interested in). Some lenses weren't on CB's site, so I've just converted the US$ launch price according to DXO into £ at an fx rate of 1.50 - it's not meant to be anything more than indicative.

By collating this all into Excel I was then able to sift through and sort into categories (UWA, WA, Standard, Short Tele, Mid Tele and Long tele) and also sort individual categories according to whatever criteria I wanted - sharpness, price etc. It also gives an easy way of comparing price/quality (if you buy into the DXO marks at all) between primes and zooms.

So I did all this for myself and then thought I could share it with you guys. I didn't design it for public consumption so the excel sheet isn't neat or fancy and if you hack around with it, you may well break it :)

I'm not promising I'll be keeping it up to date, although I might periodically. I might also add in more lenses when I get the time or inclination.

Between now and then, though, enjoy it as is - hopefully there aren't any terrible errors in it (please let me know if you do find any).

Cheers

Paul

Thanks for taking the time to do this.
I find these sort of databases useful when starting to draw up a shortlist of gear to go next on the shopping list.

Spod - love that word - used to use it all the time but not heard it for years:)

Very useful that thanks. What do those columns refer to after the price with all the 1's and 0's?

To fulfil your spodness any chance you could add a colum as to whether they're weather sealed or not? ;) :D

Thanks guys - I only did it for selfish reasons as I couldn't find a decent list anywhere already :)

Unfortunately I don't have that info - if anyone has a list of weather sealed lenses I'd happily add it.

The 1/0 columns are just used in the formulae to categorise into the UWA etc "bands".

Here's a list of all the weather sealed lenses, although it doesn't say exactly how good the sealing is. Google translate is needed
