Morning All,

Just picked up a rather nice Nikon F3 plus the waist finder seeing as had a super deal on it. The previous owner used a motor drive, which means they seemed to have lost the cover for the camera.

Does anyone have a spare or know where you can get them from as eBay has turned up nothing.

Cheers

The MD4 has a slot in the battery holder for storing the cover when you fit the drive so it may still be there. I have only ever seen them on Ebay from US based sellers. Suggest trying Nikon Spares in the UK to see if they still have one. You will find the number on the Nikon Web site.

Edit. Just checked ebay & here is the only one I could find. Needed to do a shop search & it is from a seller in the US: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Nikon...430?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ee0f012b6

Nikon UK Spares are on 0330 123 0930

What the shipping like if it's from the U.S.? Didn't get caught with high fees?

I never knew there was a "special" door on the motor drive....shame the shop isn't as local as I'd like!

I'll try Nikon spares tomorrow at work and try asking our Nikon rep see if he's got anything.

Thanks guys

I think import taxes are about 30% of the item value but i don't think thé authorities are too bothered over such a low value item....i wasn't asked for addfitional costs.

You'll probably end up paying more locally but woirth a try i guess although i got no response from Nikon when i emailed them.

No import tax if the item is below £15 not inc post :)

I'll try and find the website I saw yesterday on my PC tomorrow, otherwise I'll just order from that eBay link.

Without the cover the camera is still fine though, no issues with light leaking at all?

A shift from the MD4 goes up through the hole into the film cassette to rewind it. Pretty sure if you had it off there would be a light leak. I have seen people just put electrical insulation tape over the hole in the absence of the proper cover.

Well don't worry I found the site I saw with one on yesterday. Ordered this morning so hopefully be here tomorrow.

Plus it was all UK so no waiting around for importing.

Many thanks to all those that helped with where to find a cover.

Was glad my Google search turned up the link I had previously to Ace Optics as they just what I was looking for.

Now to load some film and fire away!!
