I'm trying to find the Nikon equivalent of the Canon 750d. Looking at specs I'm guessing it's the D5500? I know the top of the range Nikons and more or less all the Canon range but trying to tell from this isn't easy as I'm finding different figures on some sites. but the entry? level Nikons have me baffled Does anybody actually know?

PLEASE NOTE I don't want a Nikon v Canon war here. I have and use both makes so I already know both have good and bad points, this is simply looking for the equivalent camera to the Canon 750d. Mostly with regards to image quality and high iso in a simplar price range.
Thanks.

IMO there isn't an exact direct comparison. In terms of release date and specs then the D5500 is the closest. However, on launch I believe it was £100 more than the Canon, but it did have slightly better specs and noticeably better sensor performance. Price wise the D5300 was closer to the 750D, but it was released 2 years earlier. That being said, spec wise (ISO range, AF points etc) and sensor wise it still trumps the 750D, except in external build quality. But as we know, specs etc don't tell the whole story.
