I appreciate this has been mentioned in the past but I can't find anything exactly the same as my needs.

I purchased a "genuine" Nikon EN EL3e from eBay for £24 in an auction (stupid, I know) but I guess we all hope for the best sometimes. Well I learnt the hard way, paid for next day delivery and over a week later recieved the battery. I have compared it using a Nikon reference from a previous thread and suprise suprise its fake. The box looked dodgy, the text was different and the hologram was stuck on wonky and didnt have the 4 notches or the same pattern as my genuine one.

I appreciate there may be no harm using them, or it may b****r up the camera. Either way I was pretty p*ssed that I was sold it as genuine. I have informed the seller and asked for a refund and found this one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-B000B...attery/dp/B000BYCKU8/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top - on amazon.

I assume it should be fine and genuine but have heard of fakes from amazon marketplace but am I correct in assuming this is fine? Just a bit weary and low on time before going away and needing a spare battery!

Thanks :)

If you really want to be sure with these sort of items my advice would always be to go thru' an authorised dealer, yes it's a killer knowing you have to pay in some cases double the price to be sure of it's authencity but in the long run your mind will be more settled. JMO

Nope, the fakes are very good, and the photo may be an original while the batteries supplied may not be. I bought a couple that looked 100% legit, until you spot that they both had identical serial numbers.

Needless to say they were returned and refunded.

Have you read the reviews from buyers of the item you linked to?

There seems to be many counterfeit batteries on the market, especially EN-EL3 they are lighter, with no serial number on the underside, also the hologram is clearly fake and just stuck on with an adhesive.

99% of buyers will assume that because it's in a Nikon box and says Nikon on it that it's genuine. Ebay and Amazon are full of scammers selling stuff like this, if you want the genuine article then buy it from a reputable source, it's a simple as that.

Thanks for advise, I was looking at these and wondering whether people would just be happy to recieve. I considered the likes of Energizer at around £17.99.. anyone had any luck with these?

Yeah fair point. I think it's a bit of a learning process (or stupidity) but I have told myself that you pay for the real deal. Looking at the Energizer EN EL3e batteries for £18 at play.com I presume these must be better than fake Nikons?

Well the fake Nikon's will work... but you might as well just buy an unbranded one. Which will be the same thing, but more honestly labelled :)

The Phottix "Titan" works very well - £11 or so from Ebay.

Great, cheers. Also had another look on amazon, selected only items listed by amazon themselves and the Nikon version popped up for a more "genuine" looking £50.. but also found Duracell and Hahnel versions around £25 so I will look into all of the options whilst I await a refund. Thanks again all

I buy non OM batteries always have and never had a problem, naughty to advertise as genuine if not ***!

Yeahh thats what p*ssed me off! As well as the bad delivery! I suspect he wont reply to the email and I will have to open a dispute and he has relisted another one so I think an email to eBay is in order so they can warn other unsuspecting buyers. It was my own foolish money saving self though :p

Along with the original, I've been using 2x batteries from 7Dayshop for the last year with no problems. A hell of lot cheaper than the originals. I think the ones I have are 1650mAh, but they don't appear to be avaliable.

As it is fulfilled by Amazon you have the same return policy as if you bought it direct from Amazon - so if it is dodgy you can just go through tha Amazon return process and don't have to deal with what may be an awkward seller.
This is what happened when I bought a fake one through Amazon marketplace.
